FlishFun Veteran Posted December 21, 2003 Veteran Share Posted December 21, 2003 something i stumbled upon...striking isnt? http://www.irobotnow.com/index.php Yes, this is a tie in with "I Robot", the movie in production now, based on Isaac Asimov's book (3 Laws Safe sorta gives it away). Here's some more details (looks to be another July Blockbuster for Mr. Will Smith): I, Robot - Coming Soon Release Date: July 16, 2004Studio: 20th Century Fox Director: Alex Proyas Screenwriter: Jeff Vintar, Hillary Seitz, Akiva Goldsman Starring: Will Smith, Bridget Moynahan, Chi McBride, Bruce Greenwood, Alan Tudyk, Aaron Douglas, Shia LaBeouf Genre: Sci-Fi, Thriller MPAA Rating: Not available Official Website: IRobotnow.com Plot Summary: Based on the classic story collection by famed science fiction writer Isaac Asimov, "I, Robot" will concentrate on Detective Del Spooner, who, with the aid of psychologist, Dr. Susan Calvin, will investigate the death of Dr. Miles Hogenmiller, a brilliant scientist who worked at US Robotics. Initially labeled a suicide, Spooner has other ideas, convinced that a robot may have taken the doctor?s life. Isolated and eccentric, Dr. Hogenmiller appears as a hologram of himself, summoning Spooner to his side after his death. He was working on a very special project when his life was cut short. He had created something quite extraordinary ? a robot with a living brain, code named ?Sonny.? Spooner goes to Hogenmiller?s boss, Dr. Lance Robertson, with his suspicions. Incensed that Spooner wants to charge one of his robots with murder, Dr. Robertson maintains Dr. Hogenmiller took his own life. Terribly weary, Robertson knows full well that the future of his company would be snuffed out should the press get wind of the idea that a robot would, under any circumstances, kill a human being. MR_Candyman
Yes, it is for real. This robot has been in development for many years. I'm quite surprised on it's early release date though. I didn't know they sorted out their OS issues. But the doctor knows best, so I gather they have it working very well. Perhaps that was another robot I'm thinking of....the joints don't look the same as the robot I remember... edit again: movie? hmm....maybe...darn, I was hoping this was the real one... *goes off to look for the one he remembers*
