christmas ideas for a geek?

Recommended Posts

a friend of mine is really into videogames and pcs and comics, but she works at electronics boutique and has friends that get her a lot of other small stuff that she wants .. so she's really hard to buy for. any suggestions of really badass things to get her? i wish i could come up with something good, but as much as i walk around and see cool stuff .. i want to get her something really nice that she'll love, and i'm just not finding it.

I got my mate a hip-flask key-ring thing from a random fashion shop in Watford for ?6.....wallets/purses and stuff can also be cool + usefull.

If she drives or has keys to a flat or something, there's this new product out that if you whistle the keyring beeps.

That's a pretty cool gadget, not sure where you'd find it though, and I've never seen one, only heard of it...

Im just thinking an iPod could be great

It is the essential talisman of our yoga-tech times: Ownership of an iPod -- a credit-card-size, white-and-metallic digital music player -- has grown a bit culty, especially when people talk about how it has completely changed their inner musical lives. This sounds like crazy talk, until you get one, and then you understand, because now you, too, are having an everlasting love affair with something very tiny. (Here, small is good.) An iPodder has a telltale white cord coming from his coat pocket to his ears and lives in sonic smugness; he walks around in a kind of perpetually happy glaze, with his entire music collection -- as many as 10,000 songs -- going with him.

it worth it :ninja:

:o Your friend sounds like me (except that I don't work at an EB :( ) I would listen and see if there are any games she's been wanting, or maybe an accessory like a headset or a subscription to Xbox Live? If she likes comics, you could get her a limited edition of her favourite one. An mp3 player is always cool to have; I don't know if you're willing to spend big bucks on an Ipod, but there are a lot of nice small non-hard drive based mp3 players that aren't that expensive. Nice headphones for gaming/pc music listening are cool too. If all else fails, get her a gift certificate to an electronics store or something, then she can pick out whatever she wants. Good luck :D

edit: Welcome to Neowin

Consider this another vote for ThinkGeek (www.thinkgeek.com naturally.)

Tons of kick-butt gifts for a serious geek, or only a part-time geek - and lots of stuff at affordable prices too.

Lots of 'toys' - which is a plus.

 Just because someone can spray a message on a bunch of posters doesnt mean its true. I bet there are many ipod owners who are still getting joy from november 01. also my friend replaced the batter for 50 us easy enough.

Know what's sad? I have 32,325 Geek Points and there's nothin' in their Rewards Area that I want. :/
