anyone in LA feel it? im in Valencia and it wasnt that bad. about 80miles from here. I was lying on my bed and it started to sway as if i was on a boat in high waves. They're saying it was a 6.5. LOL im sure this is nothing, but for a Canadian its weird. THE GROUND MOVED!!

so far i havent heard of any damages.

lol it wasnt bad. When i was in Vancouver once there was a pretty big one (4.5) and it was a violent shaking. this was sort of a calm rolling. like when when u do ur bed sheets or ripple a carpet and the ripple travels down to the end.

My boss called me from his house to make sure everything was ok at work. He told me that after it happened he went outside in his back yard. All over the concrete there was water spots. It didnt rain so he couldnt see how parts of his back yard got wet and other parts where completely dry. Then it dawned on him, his pool was splashing water everwhere! LOL!

Yea, i felt it as well. Felt exactly llike a boat on waves. At first, when i felt it, I though I was doing the shakin', cause i move when on my chair. Then when i tried to stop moving, i kept ON moving, so im al like...wtf? Then when i saw the window shake, i realized that it was an earhquake. :D

OK i'm sorta curious...For you Californians, how do you feel when you are told that one day there's gonna be a BIG BIG earthquake that may be very destructive...I mean that's true right? I heard there's gonna be a huge one that gonna detache California from the USA or something like that...Am I making this up or did I hear it ? And if it's true...are you regularly prepared in a way or another by the authorities?

This girl was on the mic in cali when the earthquake hit... She was like "OMG The ground is shaking" and suddenly went outside to see what was happening. Thankfully she was okay and so was her family.

I used to live in LA (Culver City) and there is no preparing for it except for the emergency drills in school. I remember a quake back in 97 during the night, woke me up and scared the sh1t out of me.

they say that for every city along the west coast... i think its bound to happen. Theres supposed to be one in Vancouver within the next 20yrs apparently. But those numbers all get messed up, ive heard 20-50-100yrs. California is well prepared though. Our house is built on metal beems with shocks on them. During this earthquake it felt pretty smooth. In vancouver there was an earthquake of lesser degree and the house felt like it was going to snap and the windows were gonna pop out of the frame. Most of the bridges here in LA are earthquake proof and the tallest building in the USA outside of NY and Chicago (i think 12th tallest in the world) is in LA at 320m tall and its built to withstand an 8.0 earthquake.

No.

I didn't feel anything either here in Fresno. I remember '89 though, I could feel that one when I was outside playing basketball waiting for the World Series to start. But the few Southern CA quakes that have happened lately, we haven't really felt up here. For all you down there, stay safe.

I used to live in culver city as well, fun place, tito's taco's probably the best food ever ;p

and to the person who thought the big earthquake would detach ca from the rest of the continent, no thats not entirely true.... california sits on 2 plates, hense all the earthquakes... 1 of the plates is very, very slowly shifting north. the shifting between the two plates causes very small holes and things to develop between them, and every once in a while, after enough stress has built up between them, they sort of snap into a more comfortable position.

we are due for a really big one any minute now. I live right near the epicenter of the huge san francisco quake that happened in the early 1900's, if it happens it happens.
