+Red King Subscriber² Posted June 4, 2015 Subscriber² Share Posted June 4, 2015 (edited) Windows 8.1 x64 - Kingston SSD 120Gb - SATA III - 2 year old SSD - power user used Restarted after updates - system froze completely after logging in within a minute. OS SSD had 100% use and system interrupts were at 30%. Safe mode froze quicker - tried a few times. Pulled out SSD - put in enclosure - connected to another PC and copied all my porn - no freezing. Put it back in. Managed to get chkdisk to run (that blue low-res screen before system boots for resetting and stuff) - took 10 - 15 minutes. Said there were corrupt files and whatnot. ran "sfc /scannow" after that (Microsoft idiots do not allow to run this in CMD from the troubleshooting screen) Now I am typing this from that PC - did not freeze again. Crystal Disk Info says health is 100% - maybe try another tool? Not sure if I should create an ISO of my OS SSD (I have another 120 GB SSD that I can clone to - no one would be wiser) Thoughts? n_K
'Restarted after updates' Sounds like the key here, updates have crippled machines before. See if MS released a knowledgebase article about it or see if you can remove the recently installed updates.
