No one "insists" on using Chrome, what happens is that "normies" just use what they're used to, they don't like change, and on top of that, Chrome is the default browser that comes on every Android phone, so people are used to it and they like having all synced between devices. They either don't know other browsers exist or that they can also sync with them, or they simply don't care.
Google simply relies on people's apathy about tech, and it works, sadly. Once people jump onto something, it's hard to get them out of there. Take Edge, for example: it's the default Windows browser, an excellent browser, but people simply ignore it and go download Chrome, just because they're used to do that.
If that's happening to Microsoft, imagine Mozilla...
It doesn't seem like it would be a comparable app. I've used FastCopy for years, but I strictly use it for copying/moving files/folders. I don't think it is really mean to mimic FreeFileSync, Syncthing, etc.
More than the performance loss, what makes me run from BitLocker like the plague is the idea of losing all my data if the encryption keys somehow went south.
