2 24 inch monitors or 1 Ultrawide?

Recommended Posts

I'm building a new computer as you may already know, but I am stuck on the fence on if it should have 2 screens or just one really wide one. Which is better?

2x 4K monitors

Even if it is an ultra wide, and you try to "separate" things - it still feels like everything on 1 screen.  To truly multiscreen - you need that split.  IMO

I like odd numbers for games, evens for production.

Makes sense. It will be used more for productivity. Dreamweaver, Photoshop, etc. I play most of my games on my XB1 or the PS4 I'm buying.

Hello,

My initial thought is to go with two monitors.  If one fails for some reason, you can still use the computer.

I'm currently running 3x 1080 screens (23 inch Packard Bells)

Ok it's not to your resolution requirement, but gaming (when supported) is something else (Y)

I had 2x 24" monitors, and as they started to die I asked myself the same question. I was very interested in the 34" Ultrawide monitors that were coming out, but then the Philips BDM4065UC came out, a 40" 4K screen, which is basically a 34" ultrawide with the added resolution on top

It's the equivalent of having 4x20" 1080p monitors, and it is amazing :D

I have the Dell Ultrawide 34'' Curved and I would recommend it even for working. The Dell Display Manager application has 15 different modes of how you can split your screen and arrange your applications. With a tool like that I don't see the benefit of having two separate monitors in order to "separate things". Most Ultrawide monitors have a tool or application like this, just check their websites.
