[Q] Can I use my server as a Torrent Client for uploading?

Hello

I have purchased a domain name and webhosting in order to try some things

like opening a website, having my own ftp, etc. from godaddy

 

Can I use my server for uploading torrents?

If its purely web hosting you have bought and by uploading you mean seeding then no you cant do this

If you purely have a web hosting package then probably not, you would need a VPS or dedicated server to do that.

 

You could try a PHP torrent client such as Torrentflux, however I think most hosting providers would not be too happy with you doing this.

You could install the WebGui from say Deluge,rTorrent something like that. What is it you have EXACTLY bought.

I have already tried and installed torrentflux, but for whatever reason, torrents won't start.

Godaddy has some pretty strict firewall rules iirc. These servers (the one in your plan) are optimized for web hosting not for torrenting. 

 

BUT, since you are of course only torrenting legal files as per the rules here at Neowin, you can use a service known as a seedbox to seed torrent files. 

 

http://cheapseedboxes.com/top-10-seedbox-best-providers-cheap/ has a list of some seedbox providers. DediSeedbox has a decent service.
