Sorry, I don't dual boot, but I think you would need to add a new title section that pointed to root (hd0,0) or something...

I found two examples through Google:

default=0

timeout=10

splashimage=(hd0,2)/grub/splash.xpm.gz

title Red Hat Linux (2.4.18-5)

root (hd0,2)

kernel /vmlinuz-2.4.18-5 ro root=/dev/hda6 hdb=ide-scsi

initrd /initrd-2.4.18-5.img

title WinXP

rootnoverify (hd0,1)

chainloader +1

and

default=0

timeout=10

splashimage=(hd0,0)/boot/grub/splash.xpm.gz

title Red Hat Linux

root (hd0,0)

kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.20-8 ro root=LABEL=/

initrd /boot/initrd-2.4.20-8.img

title Windows

map (hd1) (hd0)

map (hd0) (hd1)

rootnoverify (hd1,0)

chainloader +1

If you know how you set your partitions up, this should allow you to manually repair grub.conf.

ok if the previous memo/note didnt help

stick in ur old win98 cd

and boot from it

boot to cd but do not start setup

goto command prompt and type

fdisk /mbr

:) fixed

for now

all this does it re-write the Master Boot Record. this will only work if you set your grub to be installed on ur mbr the partition with ur mbr is set to active.

i'm gonna text some of this 2 u also.. so u know its me. the first words of the texts will be "mieow"

lol

Uhhh... Texting would be sending a text message on a cell phone, or possibly a blackberry or something similar. :rofl:

As for the fdisk /mbr advice, be careful with that, as you will exactly reverse your problem. You will get Windows back, but lose Linux.

The better way is to fix the grub.conf file to point to the Win partition.

Too bad Windows still thinks it is (and should be) the only OS on your hard drive... :angry:

I got it fixed, and was really annoyed it would of worked fine, for some reason when I portioned it for some reason portion magic 8 portioned it in windows, when it normally dose it when I start windows. So I rebooted my computer the portioned was set up active so I installed red hat, got it sorted and worked out how to boot into windows, but I count get into windows itself because that screen that comes up to portion the drive kept coming up with errors then rebooting so i the end i had to reinstall xp, as I cant get the repair tool to work.

Which repair tool did you use?

You do know the one on the first screen of Setup is highly broken and does nothing at all right? ;)
