muting line-in

Recommended Posts

I have a win-TV card that plays the TV sound through my soundcards line-in socket. I also have nice digital speakers. My problem is that If you turn the volume of my speakers up, you hear the hiss of the line in socket. This makes having digital speakers a waste of time as they should be perfectly quiet at all volumes. The line in socket is only used for my win-TV so what I would like to do is write a little bit of code that will mute the line in socket and one that will take the mute off. I am able to reprogram my TV remote control to use this code so all i need is the two .exe's or shortcut keys (if there are any). Does anyone know what the shortcuts are, or suitable lines of code - I am able to program in Delphi, C.. any help would be appreciated.. thanks

Hi Kieran I know your extremely lazy but surely it isn't that difficult to just mute the line-in in the volume controls or using audio hq and just un-mute it when you want to watch tv, and when your finished just mute it again, it only takes 5 seconds. :alien:

Here is the point - I have reprogrammed my remote control so I can control media player aswell. So I will be in bed watching TV, then I want to listen to an MP3, so I close down win-TV, but now I have hissing through my speakers from the line-in socket. I want to implement a small program into the startup and shutdown of win-TV that mutes and unmutes the line-in socket so I dont have this problem. When I am in bed all nice and warm, I really dont want to make my way over the cold room to get the sound quality I should have through my very nice speakers :)

So any sensible comments?

U can record a macro of the actions u perform to mute and un-mute the line-in, however you'll have to figure out how you play back the macro using your remote control:S

Not sure if this helps
