FlishFun Veteran Posted December 26, 2003 Veteran Share Posted December 26, 2003 I am jewish. I dont feel left out. I like christmas. I dont beileve in it, but I do beileve in any holiday that brings family together. I went to a xmas party today and had a great time. In fact, it was the first time my parents and sister were together for an outing in about 2 months. It was great. And for today, I enjoyed the typical jewish christmas with chinese for dinner and I will watch a movie. Chinese food for dinner! You lucky punk! That *is* the best Jewish Xmas dinner. I had Italian, I'd have to say it's my second fave. (Y)

Remote
maybe its bc chanukah is a non-important holiday in the jewish faith? chanukah has only been emphasized in recent years to try to capitalize on the xmas holiday season. chanukah means nothing in your own faith.deal with it merry xmas Err, kinda dont like that comment. We are not trying to compete or anything. It's the retail industry that has tried to capitalize on the holidays towards chirstmas to make more $$. We arent trying to "win" or see who get more presents or whos religion is better.
Remote
i don't know the difference from Chanukah and Hanukkah, but here is a happy Hanukkah thread:https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=125065 Same thing, I honestly dont know why there are two spellings. nekrosoft13
no offense, but i can bet that most of the people on here celebrate Christmas. so thats why. if you want to celebrate your own holiday, what ever it is, no one will stop you, you can make your own thread, and people will respond. most of the time majority wins, and what i mean by that is: lets say people vote for something, lets say there are 50 friends and 40 of them want to see movie A, and 10 want to see movie B. well movie A it is, and i personally i'am sick of people blaming race or what everelse they do that doesn't make other people wrong, because i personally don't care. but i do celebrate Christmas. p.s. i live in chicagoland, and i lisen to Q101 and ManCow in the morning when i go to work. and few days ago, this one stupid lady called, and started swearing and leying at radiostation, and the morning show because they put a merry christmas sign in front, jesus, that just bs, everyone there celebrates christmas, what type of bs is that. my point is people shouldn't try to stop other people from celebrating what they believe in, also they got no damn right to FORCE the majority into believing what they believe. kenterlogic
I am jewish, my mother is from Isreal and my paternal grandmother is from Israel. So-- I'm pretty damn jewish. At home we do The Chan, as I call it, but it is pretty low key because as some of the people here have said, Hannukah is a very unimportant holiday in our faith. So we light some candles and once December 25th rolls around we open our presents under the tree. You know why? Because Christmas is not longer a Christian institution (for most of us), even the christmas tree is a pagan symbol that was just sorta thrown in there cause it was festive. So as an x-mas loving jew I must say one thing, Merry Christmas you little jerks! Jews have it all over you, we get Hannukah, Christmas and Hollywood!!!! So I think we can continue without one. no, it wasn't started as an argument, It's just Holidays like Christmas are posted on the front page of Neowin. and as being a jew, I think if Merry Christmas can be posted, I feel jews should have Happy Chanukah posted their as well. Well take it up with the Admins. I'm Jewish too... and I've lived in lots of places where I was one of the ONLY Jews there... so don't think I'm leaning one way or the other. I just don't like to see fighting and flaming on here. It's easy to PM an Admin and ask them to add it or why they didn't. That's all I'm saying. bangbang023 Veteran Posted December 26, 2003 Veteran Share Posted December 26, 2003 Hmmm, got the urge not to let Samoa post for a whil:ninja:a:Radish? Please go with your urge. Anyways, I am Catholic (devout at that), but I hope those in the Jewish community don't think that the few morons on this board represent fairly what we, as a Neowin community, think if you and your faith. As a Catholic, I have been taught and hold a respect for a fact that my faith is rooted in the early Jewish faith. Sure, our beliefs differ, but, in the end, we are all brethren. So, let's just say Happy Holidays. May everyone, whether celebrating Kwanza, Hanukah, Christmas, or any other holiday enjoy this special time and remember it's importance.
