2 days? Damn. I payed for expedited shipping for my Powerbook and it still took 2 weeks. Bear in mind that that letter is a notice of processing, not shipping.

i dont think it matters, if it takes 2 weeks you have something to look forward for, i love getting stuff like this in the mail, sometimes big stuff like this onlyt happens once, so you should appreciate the anticipation, and you will be that much happier when it comes. :)

Nice purchase, i love hte ibooks, but i need screen space, 15.4 powerbook would be my choice. But awesome system never the less.

Yep, Apple's offering free 2 Day shipping until midnight tonight (Dec. 27). I realize that the email is not shipping confirmation, but after they ship, it should be here in two days. *crosses fingers*

The 15" PowerBook is just way too expensive for me right now. That was my first Mac, however. A 15" from eBay, which broke a week ago. So, instead of getting the 15" PowerBook, I maxed out the 14" iBook. Not bad, I would say, especially with the student discount.

Yeah, it only took 2 business days (it was over a weekend) to get it to me once it shipped, but it took them a week and a half to ship it from Taiwan.

Yea the transit time that is reported is only in the US. It does take some time to actually ship from Taiwan and to get to the US. Congrats on the new iBook. I had the older G3's and it worked great.

I've been looking at iBooks... They're too expensive for me tho. Just wondering, I've never owned a new generation mac, is for example a 933G4 equal to a 933mhz Pentium, or do the PowerPC chips run faster/slower...

Gotta love Mac OSX tho!

Happy Macing (Maccing?, Macing has to do with Mace...)

I have heard that the powermac chips generally run faster, but I am not sure on a straight comparison to what a 933G4 would come out to in pentium terms. It is hard to compare since you cannot run the same os directly.

They ship it from Taiwan to the US first?? I thought it came straight from California...

It only took 2 days from Taiwan to my door. It just took a week and a half before it even left Taiwan. Yours will likely come from Taiwan as well, as opposed to the California plant.

What'd you expect man? You ordered a BTO.

Yeah, I was thinking they would build it at the CA plant, and then ship it here; I had no idea it will come from Taiwan.

The bottom of my iBook says Assembled in Taiwan. Since you've got a BTO system, it's gotta ship from the assembly plant since they don't have them sitting around in Apple's warehouse. Unfortunately, that assembly plant will be in Taiwan, so you will have to wait. It would be the same way if you BTO with any other company during this season. There's a LOT of backup...
