1) wow, had no idea you could tag people on this board

2) thanks for the compliment.  I'm not steady enough in my writing or my gaming to get a job anywhere, but I appreciate the love :)

Neither did I until I saw someone else do it :p

I did notice it wasn't posted too often but it was a good article :)

Fortnite receives in-game video chat thanks to Houseparty
      by Usman Khan Lodhi

Epic Games announced today that it is integrating Fortnite with Houseparty, letting players see their friends while they play the game together. Users will be required to install the Houseparty app on an iOS or Android device and connect their Houseparty account to their Epic Games account. Those doing so will receive the Rainbow Fog Wrap as a reward.

Initially, the feature will only be available to PC, PS4, and PS5 gamers. Using their phones, players will be able to connect to Houseparty, and the video chat will be shown in-game. Epic has detailed the process of bringing video chat into Fortnite:

The video chat will only display player faces and replace the background with a Fortnite-themed image. Epic has emphasized that the service is restricted to people aged 13 or more. In the parental settings menu, there is an option to turn off the feature. Epic didn't say whether the feature will be made available to other games.

      by Razvan Serea

Universal Media Server is a DLNA-compliant UPnP Media Server. UMS was started by SubJunk, an official developer of PMS, in order to ensure greater stability and file-compatibility. The program streams or transcodes many different media formats with little or no configuration. It is powered by MEncoder, FFmpeg, tsMuxeR, AviSynth, MediaInfo and more, which combine to offer support for a wide range of media formats. Because it is written in Java, Universal Media Server supports all major operating systems, with versions for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.

Sony refreshes the PlayStation app with native store integration, voice chat, and more
      by Jefferson Mangubat

Sony is rolling out a refreshed PlayStation app today that should improve your gaming experience on the PlayStation 4 and 5. The updated app adds a bunch of new features including a new interface, a native messaging tool, built-in PS Store integration, and more.

The app's fresh interface will let you view the games your friends are playing via the home screen. You can also see the titles you've recently played along with your Trophy List. In addition, there's an integrated messaging system that lets you communicate with friends from within the app, no need for a separate messaging app like before. That also means PS Messages will be shuttered after this change. That said, the new PS app will contain your older messages.

In addition, you can shop and browse using the new native PS Store experience as well as remotely download games and add-ons directly to your console. The app includes new capabilities that are PlayStation 5-specific. When the new-generation console rolls out, you will be able to launch games and manage its storage, all via remote access. You can also sign in to the console directly from the app.

Another feature introduced by the new app is voice chat that lets you chat with up to 15 people. There's also the ability to create party groups and see news updates via the Explore tab.

The refreshed app will be released today worldwide. It will be available to download on iOS 12.2 or later and Android 6.0 or later.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla has gone gold, Ubisoft announces
      by Namerah Saud Fatmi

Ubisoft Montreal took to social media platform Twitter to announce that its upcoming Assassin's Creed title has finally gone gold. That's dev industry jargon used when a video game is out of the development stage and a final master copy of it has been prepared. Once a title goes gold, it is ready to be printed onto physical discs and then distributed.

Now that Assassin's Creed Valhalla is ready for mass production, it shouldn't be too long before copies of the game are handed over to distributors - especially considering the fast-approaching launch date.

The latest instalment in the elaborate Assassin's Creed universe is scheduled to release on November 10 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X and PC. As the PS5 will launch a few days later, Sony's next-gen video game platform will get the title a few days later on November 13.

Pre-orders for the Viking themed game are currently open and can be placed on its official website. Both physical and digital versions of Assassin's Creed Valhalla can be pre-purchased at the moment. Xbox Series X|S users can opt for Smart Delivery while pre-ordering. If you're a PC gamer intending to buy the game, a detailed list of system requirements for AC Valhalla can be found here.
