Fedora Core 1, all 3 CDs?

Recommended Posts

As title, I wanna play around. Do I need all 3 CDs to get it up and running?

Then expect me later to nag everyone who lives in this forum for help on mounting my NTFS drive, installing vid drivers and can I find app X, Y and Z anywhere...

:D

Errrr...

As for nagging for help on mounting NTFS, we will certainly help where there are problems, but please, please, please, please read through other threads, the FAQs, etc.

I have been told that "there is no such thing as a dumb question.". It's not true. The dumb question is the one that just got answered. :p For the 100th time.

Thanks!

I got the idea from someone else, but grabbed a dialog box from my wife's PC (she still runs Windows, but it is not a reason for divorce in Tennessee :(). I think it turned out rather nicely.

Yeah, don't worry, I won't finish setup and then just go "HELP ME NOW!!!11" :D It is supposed to be a learning experience after all. I'll do as much as I can by myself.

I guess I'll download all three then :/ CD1 is done and burnt, CD2 is around 20% through and I'd kinda like to have a play around tonight but CD3 will take it past midnight and I can't be assed to be staying up fiddling aorund.

I got by with just the first 2 CDs and it worked fine, the 3rd CD is mainly just source code and little bits and pieces that you won't really need.

Just try the 2 CD version and use a minimum install with KDE or Gnome and see if it works, if it does you can always just leave it or download the 3rd CD another time.

CD 3 is not the source code. CD 4, 5, and 6 are the source code.

You need all three CDs. Good luck, Dazzla :)

You do not need all three CDs!

CD3 contains mostly development packages. And the installer will only ask for the third disc if you choose to install something contained on that disc. I'm able to install the base system with only one disc, it never asks for the others.

I only needed 1 and 2, it all went fine :)

Congrats!

I would recommend d/l #3, in case you want to add packages later.
