Lighthater
I started with redhat 5.2, but didn't get serious with it until 7.2. In fact, I just found that Redhat 5.2 retail box yesterday.

devilotX
Been runing linux at least in part since redhat 8.1 beta, I was waiting for Lindows to be released and got antsy, played around with Redhat beta, then moved on to shrike, still not a "huge" fan of redhat in general and have moved onto debian systems, currently running Xandros 2.0 on my laptop and Windows XP Pro on my desktop

MulletRobZ
July 2001 was the first time I used Linux (Mandrake 8.0) and for about four to six months in 2003, I ran Linux without Windows. They've come a long wayy over the last few years, for sure! :)
NeoMasamune
I just started using Linux for about almost a year now (February 2003). I started with a copy of Red Hat 7.3 and tried to use it in VMware, but I kept going back to XP. I wasn't learning anything, so I decided to dual boot. I started running Red Hat 9 and XP and learned quite a lot since I made that change. During that time I got curious on how some of the other distros worked and performed so I experimented with a few. I've tried Suse, Mandrake, Lycoris and Knoppix, but I didn't like any of them. Currently, my system is dual boot with Windows XP and Fedora Core 1 and I hardly touch XP anymore (except when I want to play games! :D ) I guess you could still consider me a noob, but I can get most things done with Linux. As far as the more advanced stuff, I still need help sometimes.......for everything else there's Google! ;)

RufioPan
Had my first experience with Linux last night... although didn't go over too well... hehe. Tried SuSE 8.2 Live Eval and the setup seemed to stall on some sort of printer setup. I just read through this thread though, and now I'm thinking of trying Gentoo, and more likely, Knoppix due to the fact that it runs off a CD. I don't think I'm quite ready to let go of WinXP Pro just yet, nor do I think I ever will (completely), but I'm willing to give Linux a good go. randomnut
My first taste was in 2001, when I tried RedHat 7.2 . Couldent get on with it, went back to windows. Some time later, tried SuSE 7.2 . Was ok, kept with suse on and off then i got a belkin wireless adapter, couldnt get it to work so had to go to mandrake 9.2, and works ok. I am using this and winxp on and off.
splatnix
Been using Linux since late 1994 with Linux 1.0 on a Slackware 2.1 install I managed to pickup. Being 14, it left a really  feeling with me, since I was learning so much computer stuff and I became addicted! I've been using Linux ever since. Currently running Linux 2.6.0-test11 on Slackware 9.1 (haven't had the time - or a reason - to go to 2.6.0 yet). For note's sake, I've been using Linux as my primary desktop OS since early '98 or so. I still use Windows (it's not like I'm going to abandon it since I have to support it, so I have to KNOW it), but it's not on my primary machine anymore.
