adamp2p
sorry to go off topic, but do you guys think that it would be a good idea to skip Max Payne 1 altogether and go straight to Max Payne 2? Thank you very much.

QuickSurfer
I wouldnt recommend it since you miss about 50% of the story. But there is a little video featurette type thing in MP2 that basically summarizes everything from MP1
bigred
Nope..play #1 for sure
eXclusive
You need to play the first max payne, to get a understanding of the whole max payne universe ! You have to play MP 1 !
Fedorpheux
sorry to go off topic... off topic from what? and yes, you should play max payne 1. it really doesnt take that long and it's quite fun.
Got3n
definetly do not skip it, its a really good game, thats like watching the 2nd lotr with out seeing the first, it just plain blasphamie
BxBoy
I think both parts tie in nicely.. so you shouldn't miss #1. But what you can do is get the gist of part #1 before playing #2, that will make it more enjoyable.

adamp2p
Yep, I just cruised to best buy and could not find max payne 1. All they had was Max Payne 2. Guess I got to find it on the net? Any suggestions? Edit: found it on Amazon.com for like 20 bucks. Good deal?
BxBoy
Nope, 20 bucks for an old game is not a good deal. You can probably do better.

Bizkit
Dude, just play Max Payne 2. You will still get the story, and if you have any questions, just ask us. We will tell you everything.
utcalcs
I'd say play MP1 and then play MP2 because MP1 makes you understand Max Payne and the whole concept of why he is like he is...tha way MP2 will be a clearer when you play it
poind
You *can* probably play Max Payne 2 and not be noticeably lost, but the original Max Payne was pretty gosh darn good, and I would recommend playing it prior to the second, even if it just means you'll appreciate the second even more. $20 for the original seems to be the standard price. You *may* be able to do better on Ebay or something, but the Amazon deal is probably pretty good assuming you avoid tax and do an order over $25 total so you also don't pay shipping. If you have the time and funds, play the first prior to the second. They're not long games, relatively speaking.
.KICK
I didnt go through mp1 fuly and did mp2 fully, understood the story so I reckon you'll be alright
