HeavyTwenty
What's the easiest way to convert mp3s to ogg? Friggin Fedora Core gives me a lame message whenever I try to play a mp3 and oggenc works only with wav. An app with gui would be preferable unless you guys know of an app that will convert every file in a folder... typing oggenc -b 256 filename became tiring :)

+BudMan MVC Posted December 29, 2003 MVC Share Posted December 29, 2003 what is the use of a wildcard(s) too hard to understand? Get really fancy - and put it in the background, with new process for each encoding. You do NOT have to type each filename - geeesuzz, do you people think for 2 seconds before asking questions?? So, what are wildcards? Also, you didn't answer my question. Question: what's the easiest way to convert mp3 to ogg.
Arch
please do not transcode (convert lossy to lossy) Gotta agree here. If you care anything about quality at all then you won't transcode.. Download a different player and you should be fine.
threetonesun
there's a plugin to play mp3s in Fedora. That would probably be much easier.
pagal
i think he meant something like this oggenc -b 256 *.mp3 or not? EDIT: it would be much easier to just get the mp3-plugin for xmms...

dmd3x
I would just download the mp3 support and leave the files alone.
