MxxCon
2. CDs get scratched easily, especially if you shuffle them a lot. I don't feel like burning new CDs all the time, just because they eventually wear out from everyday handling (natural thing). 3. Often on the train there's no physical room to reach in your backpack to pull out both the player and the CD wallet, let alone trying to find the four hands necessary to hold on and change the CD at the same time. Besides, the idea of carrying a backpack so you can have your CD player and CDs with you, as someone suggested, is simply ridiculous. 5. To have all my music with me using an MP3 CD player, I would have to carry over 60 CDs with me all the time ? just think about how huge and heavy this would be! When I compare that to my small and lightweight 40GB iPod, the choice becomes obvious. Hard disk?based players rule.&nb:cool:ool: 2. sure beats burning new cd once a year than paying $70 for new ipod battary 3. you have no idea how livewire backwork works. you don't need "4 hands" to change cds. everything is done w/ a single hand. 4. are you saying you listen to ALL 40gigs of music on a single trip? BS if you accidenly drop it, byebye $400 investment plus any un-backed up cds. and very popular fact that you ipod's batt dies after about 2 ye:xs :x hd players suck big time cuase they are hella expensive, especially ipod. if you go to somebody and you want their music collection, you have to open their computer, install firewire card, install craptunes and then wait for all that to transfer. how often do you carry firewire card with your? w/ cd player you just burn a blank and done. nspeds, like i said before, take your postcount inferiority complex elsewhere. nobody here care about how many posts ppl have. Besides, the iPod isn't the only hard disk?based player in the world ? if you don't like Apple, there are other players by Creative, Archos, Samsung or Dell, some of which have removeable batteries. And on a related note, the "battary" in my old 20GB iPod (over a year old) still provides 8 hours of non-stop playback. My new 40GB one will last just as long. 3. What the hell is "livewire backwork" ? You just throw random crap without even caring to ewhathat it iwhywhy it's allegedly better. Yet another unbacked fallacy of yours. 4. Using your own approach I've witnessed in earlier posts of yours, let me ask you: Are you stupid? I never said I'm going to lisevery single song in my music library all in one shothot. You invented that in your little brain. What I did say was that if I want to listen to a song that's not on any of the CDs I have with me at that moment, I'm screwed. With a hard disk-based player that problem does not exist, because all of my sonavailable for playbackack all at once. Learn to read, twit. And yanno, any idiot can just say "your **** sucks, mine rulez" and not back it up, which is exactly what you did. Next time you post stupid s***, check your facts. The iPod syncs via Uin addition to to Firewire, so I don't need to "carry a firewire card." All the other players I listed sync via USB 2.0 as well, so your "argument" is totally meaningless. If I want to get songs off my friend's computer, I just hook my player up and copy them over, which is much faster than burning one or more CDs. Plus, to follow your twisted logic, how many people carry burners and blank CDs with them (assuming not everyone has a burner and/or blanks at home). iPods being expensive? If you want quality, it will cost you. Besides, there are many cheaper hard disk?based players out there, which I already listed in one of my previous posts, like the 20GB Dell DJ for $279 shipped. Get a grip. Finally, what the hell is this "if you accidenly drop it, byebye $400 investment plus any unbacked up cds" crap? In case you haven't figured it out on your own, the music on my pcopied onto it from my computer's hard drivedrive. The music doesn't just magically disappear from my computer when it's synced to the player. Having continuity problems, aren't we? More importantly, you should know better to be careful not to drop things you paid good money for ? if you're careless enough to drop your player 10 times a day, you deserve to lose it. And the iPod doesn't die just from a single drop, just so you know. PS. I think you should go back to 3rd grade and repeat your English classes, plus develop some maturity (in regards to your reply to both me and nspeds). altus
I know!  :) In life there are only three things: quality, speed, and price. Pick any two. In other words, if you want quality, you gotta wait and/or pay more. If I were you, I'd get the iPod first and then get the boxed set later. :D

HD-based MP3 players are much more pratical (in so many ways) than CD-based MP3 players. Let's see this Jan. 6th... Not that I want another iPod (I already have 2 of them), but well... maybe I'll get a third one. Considering the possible price, it would be a nice gift for family and friends. QuaKeD
I still prefer memory-based players. Even if they don't have much memory, you can move them like you want to, and if you drop them accidentally, you don't get a broken hd :)

Altus and I have already told you to grow up, yet you have not... I find your claims completely unwarranted. You don't even own an iPod, so half the stuff you say has no concrete premise stemming from it. Its okay to post your opinion of a product, but to make your opinion a statement of "total truth" that everyone has to abide by is absolutely foolish. 1) I have a 15GB iPod, been using it for a year, the battery works just fine. 2) I have a 2nd Gen, and a 1st gen iPod, they're batteries also work perfectly fine (still!) 3) I might not listen to 40GB of music on a single trip, but its great to have a selection to choose from. 4) I've dropped both of my previous gen iPods repeatedly, only scratches, the player is still tip-top. I usually carry my laptop with me everywhere I go, so if I ever want to add music... it isn't that hard at all. So there you have it, all of your claims thrown down to the ground one by one. You can either a) Respond in an educational manner or b) Not respond at all. And just for the sweetness of proving someone to be an ignorant dumbass, I'll stoop down to you're level and make a illogical claim about you're posts just for poops and giggles: I know you are all bitter over the fact that you can't afford an iPod, but I hear Mr. Jobs will be announcing cheaper ones in January, so maybe you can beg your parents for an extra 2$ to be added to your weekly allowance, so maybe, just maybe you'll be able to purchase one by the end of January! Just be sure you're pink little piggy bank that I know is sitting right next to your "733t" computer doesn't break.

That new iPod looks great, but I don't know if i can wait :( Which other brand player do you recommend? I was looking at the Rio Eigen, but it doesn't support mac and I wanted to take all of my friends music (he has a mac and about 50 albums on it lol). hoyablue
I don't have any other MP3 players so I can't make an educated opinion on them.
