unimatrixzer0
I figure it would be cheaper to just replace the dvd drive or optical lens since it not reading discs probably means its something wrong with the drive right? Can anyone recommend any sites that would sell ps2 parts? I tried googling it, but all I got were foreign websites. Also I kept seeing this.. "Version 5,6,7 Playstation 2 game consoles." How do I know which version I have?

TwiztedCam
I suggest opening your PS2 up and fixing it with rubbing alcohol and a Q-Tip. My friends PS2 wouldn't read jack squat, PS2 discs, PS1 discs, DVD's, you name it, but after reading a 'tutorial' and doing what it said, the PS2 worked fine. Here's one explaining something about Sony repairing it for free: Click Here "To get the free repair you need to call up Sony at 1-800-345-7669. Their regular business hours are Monday-Satuday from 6AM to 8PM and on Sundays from 7AM to 6:30PM Pacific Standard Time. You need to call during those hours." Here's the tut I used to fix my friends PS2: Click here
unimatrixzer0
lol, my brother lucked out in this case and his friend just gave him his non-working PS2 which had a working dvd drive. Although if it stops working again I'll know what to do, thanks.
