drosje
Would someone be kind enough to take some screenshots of Aquisition with some of it's key features being used? I am just really curious. I'm about to get a powerbook and I am just trying to figure out a lot before the time of arrival. Thank you much!
Tim Dorr Veteran Posted December 30, 2003 Veteran Share Posted December 30, 2003 The one on xlife.org shows a LOT of what it does. However, for what I like to do, I find mlMac and Poisoned to be best.
Island Roots
I use it daily; wouldn't know what to do without it. Great app ;)
drosje
Very cool - thanks everyone. What are some of the main differences between Acquisition and Poisoned? I read up on both, but again, I haven't actually used them...

SFNE Freak
Very cool - thanks everyone. What are some of the main differences between Acquisition and Poisoned? I read up on both, but again, I haven't actually used them... I believe Acquisition connects to LimeWire networks and Poisoned connected to Gnutella and Kazaa networks. Acquisition is more useful for acquiring Mac apps while Poisoned is more useful for acquiring music. ;)
mac15
for me Acquisition downloads things more often and at higher rates like 50k plus

Island Roots
Why do you use this over Poisoned? Acquisition is more akin to searching for music. I cannot get nearly as much music results on Poisoned as I do in Acquistion.
isus
i tried poisoned... it was horrible. i couldn't get half the speed or number of results and sources as acquisition.
wtmcgee
my one problem with acquisition was the speed hit on my mac. downloads do seem to be better, but it seems to be using around 50% of my processor at all times. i only have an 800mhz powerbook, so things start to drag. not good. poisoned doesn't have that problem. isus
i have a 500mhz ibook, and the only time acqx makes it pass 50% cpu is when it is making the hash to 'verify' the file.
deviantdesigns
im tempted to try 'acqlite' aparently its like kazaa vs. kazaalite type thing... just like acquisition, but free. anyone use this?
cerbero
im tempted to try 'acqlite' aparently its like kazaa vs. kazaalite type thing... just like acquisition, but free.anyone use this? I tried it yesterday actually. Works just as well as Acquisition. It's built with the same core as Acquisition (the core is open source), so everything works almost identically. The GUI isn't as aqualicios as Acquisition's, but it's still very nice.
