JohnsonBox
If you've ever watched programs from China's CCTV, you might feel how happy and lucky the Chinese children were. But in reality, China is still a developing country. Here is some pics that reflect how poor Chinese children are receiving their primary education. "Mom, I want to go to school." "We are so lucky, comparing to those Children whose parents cannot afford them to go to school" "We are living in this poor area, but we still love our country." "Be careful, children!" "Look at our classroom..." What might you read from the child's innocent eye? How rough is the road along which the children go to their school? Where will be my future? Our future is in the field of hope. It is also a flower of our homeland

Ji@nBing
so sad. the gap between the rich and the poor in china has been widening the past few years. while it's good to see china having such strong economic growth, only the ppl in the larger cities are benefitting right now. hopefully the goventment will start to invest more in infrastucture throughout the rest of the country and help out the poorer ppl. i've been to several villages there and believe me, these ppl are very, very poor. their houses are little more than shacks and there is no running water. thier toilet is a hole dug in the ground. despite all this these ppl are some of the nicest i've ever met. they offered me what little food they had and opened thier homes to me. i'll never forget them, and i'll be back
obbyjust
many of the pix were taken years ago,but i know that there are still places and ppl like those my classemates and i helped a little boy in these 3 years who was as poor as those in the pix,we want to do more but that's all that we can afford the problem is that many ppl can't see what's happening or they saw those but they ignore them~ :(
fukachu
i'll definately be wanting to see these less fortunate people on my trip to china in a couple days. these pics are such an eye opener and it makes me feel bad for complaining that the milk is off or something trivial like that. im really looking forward to this because i think witnessing such things can only make you a better person, a more giving and caring person, when you realise just how incredibly lucky you are. i wish there was something that could be done for the masses of people living below the poverty line. i read a statistic somewhere though that if we all lived at the level americans do (it was an american statistic) we would need something like 7 planets to sustain the natural resources we would need! that just shows how bad our society has gotten to be such a parasite on the earth. im sorry i cant say where that stat came from but interested me alot when i read it some time ago. cheers

yanman
Yeah, I was actually thinking about this the other day, that's why I started the Poverty In Our World forum, but it ended up in political flames. Thank you JohnsonBox for putting things into perspective. The main reason why I don't want to go back to China for holidays was because I can't stand seeing kids out on the streets, very saddening and I also get this weird feeling inside of me. I've realised lately how much I take for granted. I hope many others can see that too.
jymi
is there an organisation or charity of some sort we can donate money to for these children? my family already sponsor an ethiopian child and we wouldnt mind helping another child or even family
kjordan2001
This is the scene for a majority of the countries. Most are still developing. Most countries like this are due to a poor government. Donating money is all fine and dandy, but if the governments aren't fixed, it's just a drain on developed countries.
