Just tell them you returned it the nite it was due into the slot outside.... and if they deny, just pay the price of the book, like all the libraries out here let you do.

6 Years...wow seriously how can they be sure that they didnt misplace the book before it was taken off your name? That happened to me once...I went to the library myself and showed them that they had the book not me...silly librarians...they're just after the money, haha!

was a scam! worked like a charm though

www.wkd.co.uk <--somewhere on there?

Tom

If it was a scam, how'd they know you had the Wally book? In your original post it sounded like you had taken that book out.

mm i remember taking out 2 books from NYC public library about 7 years ago. never returned them and they never contacted me...oh well. but that doesnt really matter, you can ask anyone who goes to a public school to get you a "fee waiver" from the offices and it takes out any amount you owe.

I love the ideas the scammers come up with these days

By law they can't ask for more than the price of the original book.

Radish?

That's pretty lame. Why would they charge so freakin much when the book itself is prolly only 1/18 of that?

And it seems wierd having to go to a site to pay. :pinch:

Yes just tell them the book was returned, it's your word against theirs and they have no way to proove you did or do still have it, since library records are NOT full proof and the people using it can and often do make mistakes. The court would recognise that fact.

That's great, in an evil 'I'll do it to my mates, but they better not do it to me' sort of way.

My extreme geekisness will show through - but they messed up. ISBN numbers are only 10 digits long - never 11. *coughs*

When will scammers ever learn basic psychology?

"Our electonic database has been tracking people through their place of work and email address. The total amount in overdue fines is running into the millions - and anybody refusing to make payment will be sent a court summons."

Why the hell would any serious person tell you this bit? They wouldn't.
