+chorpeac MVC Posted December 31, 2003 MVC Share Posted December 31, 2003 Hmm...that's weird....Is WPA available on a mac? If not, it's interesting you can see as far as you have so far.
Tim Dorr Veteran Posted December 31, 2003 Veteran Share Posted December 31, 2003 WAP = Wireless Access Point. So, when you turned on wireless, you lost your ability to share?

DirtyLarry Veteran Posted January 2, 2004 Veteran Share Posted January 2, 2004 I set up file sharing on both my Mac and PC it was working fine but when I turned on WAP I stared having problems. The mac can see my windows machine and it can see the shared folder but when I try to open the folder it dosen't see the shared document. What's up? i had/have the same problem after installing panther, before then everything was networked just fine... the way i have found around it is to from the desktop use the connect to server option (under Go or cmd-k) and to manually type in the ip address of the Windows machine, then when you connect to it that way you can see all of the share folders no problem at all... i still to this day have the same problem as you that i can see the machine through my Network but there is nothing in the shared folder when i open it... so try that... and if you do not know how to get the windows ip address just go to run, type in cmd, and in the cmd console type ipconfig for that specific comps ip address... will work like a charm... and you can save it as a favorite once you get it working... by the way i called apple support on this issue and they ran me through about 45 minutes of troubleshooting to never fix seeing it through the network window and this is the only way i can do it! hfred
I am behind a routor and i typed in my ip and sayed that it couldn't connect. is it because I am behind a routor? Do I need a diffrent ip?
Tim Dorr Veteran Posted January 3, 2004 Veteran Share Posted January 3, 2004 Is just one computer behind the router? They both should be. Do they have the same subnet (aka 192.168.x.y for their IPs, where x is the same number for both)? They need to be the same subnet.
