Sharks

that's kinda odd.? don't they see us as food?? or do they just not like how we tast:):)

great pictures btw!! he's got guts!?&nbs:ninja:ja:

Apparantly we are not fatty enough for sharks... Things like seals etc have lots of fat so we just dont compare....

Oh and I saw a program the other day and they said the best way to put a shark off is to position it vertically (F*ck knows how u are meant to do that!!!) ie nose pointing to the surface, this shuts the gills off or something... Also while it attacks near the surface it cant see much becasue of the way its eyes work, the bright light etc, and it protects its eyes just before attack so you can actually move away from it when it attacks...

Yep, thats correct, sharks don't actually like the taste of us, which is why you'll rarely hear about a shark actually eating a human. Most of the time they'll take a bite bcos they've mistaken us for some food, like a seal, but then realise we taste like crap and aren't what they thought we were.

@rpm: i've seen a similar picture (maybe its the same one) of that shark in the wave, except there were 2 of them, and it was in south africa. it was on the news a couple of years ago i think and they had video of it.

I've gotten bitten by a Shark before! Really! Hurt like a bitch...

We were playing the Sharks in youth basketball in middle school. I fouled the center, so he ran up and tried to take a bite out of my hand. I wish I would have know about punching Sharks in the nose back then, and he might have stopped. But no, he kept biting...

Oh well, I guess I am just one of those people who can say they were bitten by a Shark! :p

Chances of getting bit by a shark is less than the chance of getting hit by lightning twice .. and most shark bites occur by stupid divers who see, Nurse Sharks [most common shark to bite people] burried in some place and grab their tails.. then of course you can see why a shark would return the favor with a bite or two ;) In general i've never been really scared of sharks since i was a kid and went to some place and snorkled with some hammerheads and such, [loads of fun ;) I reccommend snorkling or scuba diving with sharks and dolphins and in coral reefs etc.. all are loads of fun.] I dunno I suppose the public image of Sharks is mostly something to be feared because TVs and such only show news of sharks biting people or attacking, etc.. etc..

I think it would be scary tho if you were just swimming on a public beach and saw one couple feet to the side of you. It would be more or less the shock of seeing one so randomly and so out of place.

I have a HUGE fear of Sharks but I am willing to risk my life skydiving, jumping off buildings , stunting, etc.. but I will NEVER go near Salt Water.

Is it true that their are Fresh Water Sharks and if so I heard a rumor back in like 1900's there was a huge ass shark caught in the Potomac River.. (Virginia, USA).. Is that true.

Thanks

Yes, it's true, I read the book on it and there was a documentary about it on "Shark Week..."

hah yes, I am a dork :)

Sharks have real sharp teeth no doubt, would be pretty scary to come face to face with one...

but that will never keep me out of the water. I absolutly love the ocean...

has anyone ever done that "Shark Feeding" that you can do in Florida? It's like a tourist attraction...I'd consider it :p
