BananaMan
thats cuz its not doing dx9 on in man, its doing dx 7 prolly with out pixel shaders or PS 1.1 PS 1.1 is DX8.0. Geforce 3 uses PS 1.1 shaders, so that's what Halo would be usin'. Seriously, has anyone had a look at the PS 1.1 level shaders in Halo? It looks pretty good to me, and the difference between PS 1.1. and PS 2.0 is not worth the performance hot.
Shadrack
Pixel shaders, smiffer shaffers. Who cares! I have a 9800 Pro and this game STILL runs like crap when there gets to be some real action going on. Thats where I want the performance the most! null_
I play Halo on my AMD 2000+, 256MB RAM, with a GeForce 4 MX 440 at 1280x1024 and it still runs like a dream, but on my friends PC, which a Duron 1.2Ghz, 512MB RAM, and a 64MB Radeon 9200, its slow as hell and it BSODs whenever you exit. OptiPlex
Tell your friend to downgrade to Catalyst 3.0. Problems solved, no more BSOD.
PeterClark
I play it on my 2800 with 9600xt, and in 1024x (max settings) I get 30 - 40 fps, and in 800x (max settings) its around 55fps. :D
Shadrack
I have a 9800 Pro on an Athlon XP 2400+. It w/ pretty high fps on max settings until there are like 5 or more bad guys in the area I am in. Then it slows down to a crawl. I'm thinking that it is probably my processor brining me down because it still does this when I set pixel shaders down to 1.1. But I'm still very very dissapointed in how crappy of an engine they released for this.
Quite Ltd.
On my old PC it didn't run - it waddled. Was an Athlon XP 1.5 with 256 SDRAM and a 5400rpm HDD. But now - boy does it fly! Just finished it today and I LOVE THIS GAME!
