Last July, Microsoft officially launched Windows 10, beginning its rollout to PCs across the globe, and ushering in a new generation of devices designed around the new OS. Windows 10 is intended to run across an extraordinary range of devices - not just desktop PCs and notebooks, but also smartphones, tablets, 2-in-1s, smart TVs, set-top boxes, dongle-style 'PC sticks', point-of-sale machines, Internet of Things devices, and many more.
Last week, Microsoft delivered a long-awaited update on how its newest operating system is progressing, revealing that Windows 10 is now installed on over 200 million active devices around the world, including Xbox Ones running its latest software update. That figure includes over 22 million in the enterprise and education sectors, and the company says that 76% of its enterprise customers are already engaged in trial deployments of the new OS.
Significantly, Microsoft said that people aren't merely installing the OS - they also can't get enough of it. Users are spending more time on Windows 10 than on any previous Windows version - over 11 billion hours in December - and Microsoft says those users are 'loving' it:
We are even more excited that these customers are loving Windows 10. Overall, we are seeing significantly higher customer satisfaction with Windows 10 than any prior version of Windows.
