Omikron: The Nomad Soul publisher Square Enix is giving the game away on its online store to celebrate the life of David Bowie, who appeared in the project.

"In memoriam to David Bowie's legacy, we are giving away free digital copies of his video game, Omikron: The Nomad Soul," Square Enix announced on Twitter. Bowie died Jan. 10 at the age of 69.

The offer is available for one week, from today through Jan. 22, for the Windows PC version of the game. Omikron is listed as free in the European store, but visitors to the North American store will have to enter the coupon code "omikron" at checkout in order to get the game for free.

Omikron: The Nomad Soul is an adventure game developed by Quantic Dream; it was the first project from the David Cage-led studio. Omikron was originally published by Eidos Interactive on Windows PC in 1999 and on Dreamcast in 2000. Bowie appeared in the game and contributed several original songs to it; you can read more about his role in the project here. A few years later, he almost made it into Harmonix's Amplitude.
