Burning Windows XP

Recommended Posts

I posted this yesterday, but the thread was deleted. I don?t know why, it didn?t break an of NeoWin?s rules; I haven?t asked for any warez links, its not porn and it dosen?t violate any laws... anyway, I will try again...

--------------

I have just finished downloading the DEVILS0WN version of Windows XP.

I have done a check of the .iso file with CRC.EXE and it came out fine.

So, I went to burn it with Nero, but whilst burning I got some error messages,

attached is a copy of Nero's log.

I have tried twice now, but I get the same error message.

Can anyone help fix this?

I'm assuming it was deleted because this version of WinXP you're trying to get help for is a Warez product. They can't have people posting how to do this. It would be supporting warez. if you want this information, go elsewhere.

i'm not a moderator.. you said you didn't know why it was deleted, so I offered an explanation.

as for the cd labels, you could use them for burned cd's of RC1 or RC2 :) but the one with the serial # clearly has the build number one it as well, so i'm surprised the thread lives.

the thread was deleted because one of the replies contained solicitation (of warez) which is banned on these forums.

I'm of the view that if you do this stuff then you should keep it to yourself and not discuss it here, and if you absolutely must discuss it take it to a more appropriate site if you know what i mean.

I'll keep the thread open for now, but if a flame war breaks out against either myself or other neowin members or if someone posts CD keys/warez links the thread will be locked and action taken against the offenders.

This really isn't the best place to ask... if you have problems you should either post in a warez forum OR goto the software makers forum.

As for the other topic [CD lables], it was more of a general chat and focused on what people had done in a graphics editor, not on the use of warez copies of WinXP. :D

If you want it to burn correctly, use CDRwin 3.8d and up.

Here is a little copy/paste instruction:

Open up CDRWin and go to 'File Backup and Tools'...

. Add the directory, where you have extracted your old .ISO to the 'File Backup List'.

. Apply the following settings:

Preserve Full Pathnames = [_]

Include Hidden Files = [X]

Long Filenames (Joliet) = [X]

Include System Files = [X]

Recurse Subdirectories = [X]

Include Archive Files only = [_]

. Select a filename for your new .ISO image.

. Apply the following settings:

Check Directory Depth = [X]

Disable Version Numbers = [X]

Generate Raw Sectors = [_]

Disable DOS Conmpatibilty = [_]

. Proceed to the 'advanced options'...

. On the 'Volume Descriptor' tab:

Volume Label = WXPVOL_EN

Publisher Name = MICROSOFT CORPORATION

Preparer Name = MICROSOFT CORPORATION

. On the 'Bootable Disc' tab:

Make Bootable Disc = [X]

Media Emulation Type = Custom

Image File Name -> the place where you have stored the boot.bin on your HD.

Developer Name = MICROSOFT CORPORATION

Load Segment = 07C0

Load Sector Count = 4

. All settings done... Now just hit the 'START' button to burn your new bootable .ISO image

Cool thanks for that, but I would prefer not to use Easy CD Creator, im told it can do very bad things to your computer.

The other thing is its already an .iso, its not a boot.bin file. I just get that ?Logical unit not ready, long write in progress? error in Nero.

I have just tried to use IosBuster, and the image came out fine on my hard disk, but I need it to be bootable. When I extrated the files form IsoBuster, I got to folders ?WXPVOL_EN? and ?Bootable CD?. In WXPVOL_EN is all the files of the CD. In Bootable CD is the files ?BootCatalog.cat? (2kb) and ?Microsoft Corporation.img? (2kb). Does anyone know how to get this into nero? Or even CDRWin?

Thanks,

Alan (DWZ)

Read the text instruction, it was for CDRWIN software. Burning .iso is simple because its already CD image and its bootable. Unless you rip the .iso then you need the windowsxp boot.bin file.
