sys32
I need to be able to accept payments online. I don't need any kind of fancy shopping-cart software, just a simple script of some kind that would allow me to charge someone's card and deposit the funds into a business checking account. The only problem is, I have no idea whatsoever how to go about this whole thing. Please don't suggest using CCBill or a similar service. It just seems unprofessional if you ask me. So suggest away Neowinians! :p Thanks for your help guys, I really appreciate it.
aem4162
what's wrong with paypal? lots of online businesses use it and it's not thought of as being unprofessional. just make sure that what you charge for your merchadise covers the paypal fee. poind
You probably would indeed be better off using Paypal or something similar over dealing with all the direct legal stuff/responsibilities you'd have were you to try direct billing. Your issue would go beyond "a simple script" should you do it yourself-- you'll have multiple things to deal with to make proper direct arrangements with credit card companies, business filings, whatever. It's not as simple as just plugging a script into a website -- if anything, you could find yourself in some severe legal trouble should you do so without appropriate authorizations and other stuff. If you don't want to seem "unprofessional", you'll have to find the "professional" way of arranging direct payments and contact the appropriate places. Hum
:o Lots of things wrong with PayPal -- they've drained several people's accounts. Read: http://www.paypalsucks.com/ No, it is not a joke site.
nutternutin
There's nothing wrong with paypal. Used it for years, no problems. Sure, there will be a few people who ran into trouble with it, but they are a minority. There all complaints about every online payment system. Hi :) CCbill are far from beeing unprofessional m8, but if you will not use them for big order volumes and charges move away since their rates are a big high, but belive me they are truly a nice reliable company! Attm I use paypal (my customers ask for it  ) and 2checkout, here is my small review about them: - Cost: $50 setup fee and fairly low rates per transaction - Interface: nothing fancy...infact looks outdated, but it works - Payments: On time, always, dispite the problems (read below) - Problems: They had some serious downtime due to big DDOS attacks, seems like they ****ed some spammers and such  . Dispite that when they work they work good - Support: Well at first it was fast, now it takes some time but well... - Overall: Would say they are average, with ups and downs but the only viable alternative attm for small bussiness people (don't like paycom "marketing"), with fair rates,etc.. :) Check them out here: www.2checkout.com or here if you think this micro-review was usefull ;) lol : http://www.2checkout.com/cgi-bin/aff.2c?affid=44741
