Halo2 Delayed?

Recommended Posts

It was never coming out on the 04/04/04 anyway because thats an sunday and wasnt annouced officially so that was bogus, its still coming out march/april time and ITS never coming to PC. Oh and those saying it sucks on PC , you need to play the Xbox version

It doesn't matter, they can release the game on whatever date they want. For publicity 4/4/4 works better and releasing it on a sunday won't affect sales in the slightest.

Remember guys dreamcast was 9/9/99.

Online retailers can sell the title on the saturday to ensure it's delivered for monday, retail outlets can sell from 12:00AM on the 4th.

I got the date confirmed by strong Xbox product managers. The date hasn't slipped at the moment and they don't expect it to.

thanks in volenteering in paying for my subscription

Yeah, I expect the $60 donation in my mailbox from you macrosslover. ;)

Why don't you add an another $200, I don't even have a Xbox.

KICK_XP, if you are 100% Halo 2 is not coming on to the PC, Bungie and/or Microsoft Game Studios would have mentioned something about it

Why do people act like its the end of the world when a game is delayed?

Yes, if its delayed by a few months then you have the right to be bothered, but when they delay the game its often for a good reason. I know myself through web design, that when you develop somthing, you get many un-forseen issues that you never accounted for, and 99.9% of these issues need to be fixed.

I'd rather let them finish the game then let them release a bug filled beta version because people couldnt wait another month.

Game companies only give release dates out of pressure from the public. They have good reason to, because the public are the ones that buy the game, and they want a date to expect the game to be released on. But as we all know that is the downfall of most games, they are released early, due to public pressure, and people usually complain about the bugs.

IMO asking a game developer what date they will have a game finshed by is like asking "How long is a piece of string?", you just dont know.

Good on Bungie and MS for sticking to their guns and releasing the game when it actually is ready to be released.

EDIT: According to an IGN game review of Project Gotham 2 (sorry dont have link), the game was vastly improved in teh final month of development. Apparently they played some beta code a month before the game was finished, and it was slow, jerky, some major pop-up issues and a little buggy. A month later when IGN were able to play the finished code they said that in that month they had improved the game out of sight, and none of the bugs that bothered them in the preview code where present in the final game. If thats what a month of development can do then I think its well worth the wait.

well....i heard it wasnt 4/4/04 anyway...that USE to be the date...I preordered my copy at GameStop at my nearby Mall and they said that the date for it is 3/23/04...so its a possibility that it comes sooner than 4/4 :woot:

Looks like it is very much delayed. An interview with Robbie Bach (Chief Xbox Officer) today: on Halo 2

"We're going to ship it when it's ready," Bach said. "That might be the first half of 2004, it might not. You have to be careful with franchises like this."

And also today Gamestop changed Halo 2's release date to June.

ETA: 6/1/2004

jeez all this Halo 2 talk makes me want ot beat halo. BUT I CANT GET OUT OF THAT BULIDING WHEN YOU FIRST MEET THE DAMN FLOOD!!!!

 what difficulty are you playing on? just don't rush into new areas. let them come to you, and as long as you have a shotgun and a half-decent aim, you should be fine (Y) if you don't have a shotgun, use an assault rifle until one of them drops a shotgun.

here is another link from gamespot....

Bach's second revelation was that Halo 2, easily the console's most anticipated game for 2004, may not be ready for its previously reported April release date. Repeating the developer mantra, "We're going to ship it when it's ready," Bach continued, "That might be the first half of 2004, it might not. You have to be careful with franchises like this." It may--or may not--be worth noting that the original Halo was a holiday 2001 release.
