ienhz
Ok, I'm currently deciding on buying a console. I was wondering what 4 player games does the PS2 have? I usually have large groups of friends coming to my house and I would like to be able to play altogether instead of just 2 people playing while the rest watch. I know the XBox has 4 ports and probably has more multiplayer games but Raven Shield got announced for PS2 so that makes me lean to the PS2 side more sine it already has a few more games that I like (mainly single player), but XBox also has lots of online games that I like... Does CS on XBox have 4 player splitscreen mode, and is the game any fun? Does anyone mind listing some 4 player games for XBox and PS2 to help my decision? Thanks. +Warwagon MVC Posted January 6, 2004 MVC Share Posted January 6, 2004 Yes over time you'll either have to upgrade it or get a new one .. but same goes for the consoles if you want better graphics by a new system...and plus with a computer you can do games and then a whole lot more
ienhz
Well I have a pretty good computer right now. Just want something for my friends and I to all play together since I only got one computer.
noonespecial777
depends, the ps2 has highspeed and dial up play. Where as x-box is high speed only. which console has the best 4- play games is up for debate. ILl just say I took a ps2 3 months old with 16 games and gave it away and went and bought a real console an x-box ...enough said !!!!
+Warwagon MVC Posted January 6, 2004 MVC Share Posted January 6, 2004 (edited) ah... ya I can see that.... but split screen sucks hehe Err then again...... Mario Kart 64 kicked some serious A!s ... but only when it was just 2 people playing by the way how big of tv are you going to be playing this on.. cuz if you take a tv and split it into four screens........gets painfull Edited January 6, 2004 by warwagon
yayaba
You're not factoring the Game Cube into your decision? The system is practically 70% 4-player, 30% single player :p Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Mario Party, Monkey Ball, etc.

Gamecube rules all the other consoles as far as multiplayer is concerned. Xbox is the best for online play, and PS2 is best for its vast collection of games (such as FF series and DMC and stuff). I'm going to buy a console to complement my PS2 soon, but I cant decide on whether I should buy an xbox or a gamecube. I really wanna play Zelda and Viewtiful Joe and some other games for Gamecube, so thats why I want a gamecube. There really arent any games I'm dying for on the xbox, but I would LOVE to mod it and put linux on it and stuff.

ienhz
Hmm. Does the PS2 let you play online with 2 people? Like say I wanted to have me and a friend at my house (1 PS2) against 2 other friends (both on the same PS2) playing online, would that be possible? I know the XBox can do it with system link (xbconnect/xboxlink) but can the PS2 let you do that?
rzs5765
this should not even be a question with halo and hal 2 xbox is ultimate, plus the online is great seeing there are no slowies holding us all up there is also the ethernet for local play. me and my friends played 16-player halo. WOW. its got all hte basic games too adn some other good ones. xbox is the way to go
Ji@nBing
if u want a console to play when ur friends come over get gamecube. xbox and ps2 are better overall consoles, but GC is a blast to play 4 player with friends
Stokkolm
I would go with the Xbox..personally I think that is the best system because of Xbox Live, although as said above Gamecube is the best multi-player system. CS on Xbox isn't multiplayer as far as I can tell, only Xbox Live.
V3L0C|7Y
Xbox is the way to go hands down. It has built in Ethernet, 4 controller ports and awesome games. (Halo, Halo 2 coming soon, Counter Strike, Wolfenstein, Bond: Nightfire, Moto GP2, Midnight Club 2, Rainbow Six 3, Unreal Championship, TimeSplitters 2, XIII...) Plus you can mod it to turn it into the ultimate entertainment system. Xbox Media Player 0WNS!

Drov
I got the XBox and love it. The graphics are great and I've never had any problems with it whatsoever. I live in a residence hall here at school and it's great for getting a large group together to play over the network in the building using the LAN installed in it from the factory. Plus, you'll never need to buy a memory card, EVER! The HD in this thing could probably hold more games than you'll ever play.
Schuyler
PS2 needs the multi-tap for 4 player games. XBOX comes with 4 controller ports. So theres your answer.

ienhz
Hmm, I don't really like any of the games Nintendo makes. I borrowed a GC from a friend before and found Mario Sunshine, Smash Bros, Metroid Prime, pretty boring so I know for sure I don't want a GC. :)

PSiBER
If you just want a group type of console.. get a GC. My friend brought his GC to school a couple times, played Double Dash in the cafeteria.. mad fun right there, with 4 ppl. Oh if you're wondering, my friend bought that little LCD screen that goes on your console.. so yea it was small, but playable. But then of course it gets kinda boring.
