+chorpeac MVC Posted January 6, 2004 MVC Share Posted January 6, 2004 yeah the colors are too middle schoolish. Where are the hip colors for our time, gray, black, metallic??
Southern Patriot
Am I the only one that noticed that the Microsoft reps made absolutely NO mention of Virtual PC? Wasn't there supposed to be an announcement about the new version today as well?
Ironman273
I think everyone is missing the point. Sure the difference is $50, but there are many people out there (and some in this thread) that don't need 11Gb more of storage, but the new slim size is definitely a bonus. I just bought a flash MP3 player for my wife to take to the gym, and something like the mini would hit the sweet spot for portability/storage. My $0.02. Tim Dorr Veteran Posted January 6, 2004 Veteran Share Posted January 6, 2004 iPod mini is $199 with ADC discount....so that's $299 total... I may get a new iPod with my PowerMac :)

Yes, but there is still only 25 min of skip protection. Flash players don't have any! So flash players are more ideal for the gym and running. Besides, it would take a lot more jarring that just jogging to make one skip.
itsnotabigtruck
They screwed it up. Totally. $250 bucks for an iPod mini? For 4 GB? No 2 GB version? No $100 and/or $150 pricing? Morons...
Southern Patriot
Oh yeah, I see it. Is the original available anywhere on the web? Not any decent copies. I've found some low quality ones before, but nothing as good as these. Google for "apple 1984 ad" and you'll probably find some copies.

But they are targeting people who works out with it (arm belt). Harddrives are not made for frequent vibrations. After time I bet the harddrive won't be good. Jazza
if you compare the ipod mini to the ipod, then yes, for another $50 you can have 15Gb instead of 4Gb. But if your thinking of getting say a Muvo2 1.5gb, then for $20 more you can have more storage, and I think that's what they are aiming for really Though I agree, is should have been much cheaper, maybe $150, then they'd have the market covered. In fact, it's illegal in many places.

Actually, really tiny hard drives like those in an iPod would be FAR more resistant to shock than a larger hard drive. The smaller you get, the less rotational forces are involved.
