Sedriss
I just got recent issue of GamePro, and they had stated that Activision had lost about 10 million in sales the 2nd quarter. So they were cutting some projects. Well it also read that they had to push back some stuff. They are now looking for a 2005 release date for DOOM.

Mattimeo
Ahhh man...I sure hope thats not true. I was really looking forward to that game this year. Building a computer for the sole purpose (after 3 years, I need a upgrade anyways) for the game.
Chode
I believe the exact wording is "First quarter 2005", which believe it or not counts December 2004, possibly earlier if they really wanna cash in at Chrismas
mayamaniac
and they will change the game name to DOOM FOREVER
Schmoove
I don't care at all.... Doom III has never been on the top of my 'to be played' list. I bet that Half Life II and STALKER will probably be a lot better.

I agree with you, though I list STALKER higher than Half Life 2...I'm impartial to post-apocalyptic-ness (is that a word?)

ComaBlack
Sif it will be delayed til 2005. Doom III is guaranteed to be a big seller for Activision. THE GAME so to speak. It'll be out.
shermang
I really hope they release it by Christmas, it'll be great. How many of you that are not anticipating DOOM3 have played the first 2?
David24
I don't understand why people believe these game developers. I knew last year Half-life 2, doom 3 and Halo 2 would not be out until 2005 or later. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Halo 2 comes out for XBOX 2. +chorpeac MVC Posted January 7, 2004 MVC Share Posted January 7, 2004 well I can't say I didn't see it coming. Hell with Doom 3, I would like to see some games come out that will be using the same graphics engine. From what I have read, D3 uses a new graphics engine, and the engine is being used by Raven Software to create the next Quake and probably another Soldier of Fortune. Could they release the games before D3?
Timan Veteran Posted January 7, 2004 Veteran Share Posted January 7, 2004 They went through all the trouble of printing boxes and putting them in stores i think it will be out in a few months. :/

nvme
Could they release the games before D3? no. it's idsoftware's policy to put out their game using the engine first... then the other developers
uniacidz
You gotta be joking right? LOL... :not another game released later than said: ERGH! :( Well said. And as mentione din the thread already, is prob gonna be the case of waiting over a year in anticipation and then when you finally get your hands on it, its a disappointment. Kinda like Matrix Reloaded  Oh well, by the time it comes out, PCI Express might be out, BTX PSU will be the norm and Longhorn will prob be out. Ho hum. BananaMan
They went through all the trouble of printing boxes and putting them in stores i think it will be out in a few months. :/ I saw them up in 2002, and I've also seen boxes for DNF, so I don't think those Coming Soon boxes are necessarily a sign of imminent release.
