Got3n
Ok im sitting here thinking of nothing, then it came to me, There should be a chain of computer stores, like Best buy but better. It would be called Neowin.net, think about it. The store is made up of real technonlogy and software enthusiest. A place where the workers can work/program and help people who need it. They would sell the latest technology, neowin could also take over Tech tv and make is Neowin TV just like tech tv did to zdtv. We could play it in the Neowin.net Store, people could come and get their latest news and test the latest products, CES, whats that lets just goto Neowin.net and see it there, they have everything. lol I think it would be cool. Not just in the US, but world wide. -Software section - Includes Independent program writers(ie autopatcher xp) free or for sale. Latest software releases can be picked up there. Hardware section - see live benchmarks of new technology as we get it in. test todays and tommorows technology. and a lan area with internet connectivity. Computer Custimization - Cases and all all the customizing products you could imagine, and an area to work on them. A tech bench would be handy if something were to go wrong. I know, its a rough concept, and will never be true, but its just something to discuss. hey if you have something to add put it here. i wanna see us take over tech tv and Best buy. lol

aem4162
i wanna work there! neowin could take over best buys in beavercreek, centerville, and trotwood....it would run that lame ass excuse for a computer store compusa out of town... customers would get real help and info...neowin tv would be a true 24/7 station instead of having infomercials in the wee hours... djgramma
Hehe, you got something going there. Maybe we should all band together and get something out. Just look at how popular we are already. Think about how great we'll be in the commercial stage. Oh man, I'm down with that dude. Heh, surprising that I'm moving more and more away from the physical stores and more and more into internet shops. There's just more things to look at. Cheers
MR_Candyman
problem is a lot of people here don't even know what they're truly talking about and just follow what somebody else who doesn't know what they're talking about says. Not to bash the idea or anything, but in the end it all still comes down to professional training and experience. Hobbiests who don't know enough to do it professionally will be useless in the industry. Not saying Best Buy people know what they're doing, but if you wanna stand out and have this geek eutopia, then you need to weed out the hobbiests, which 99% of neowin is. giga Veteran Posted January 8, 2004 Veteran Share Posted January 8, 2004 It's a good idea, but do you know how much money that will cost? A lot. Chain of stores, online shop, revenue, warranty, professional service, etc.

johngalt
that is the whole point - it would be a wish and nothing more. B/c as soon as one of the *big* boys got wind of it they would 1) Attempt to buy out the idea, 2) attempt to quash the idea b/c it would provide a direct competitor to them, or 3) Use Strong arm tactics to force the little guy out of business, and *then* o back to step 1. I wold ave to be a lurker there anyway - kinda like those philosophical types yo see reading in the Barne's and Nobles lounges all day.

johngalt
damn - if you can make the wish into a reality, more power to ya - ow, of all the people who have shown interest - who has the liquid capital to make i happen? isus
the one thing i've found that would hurt your store would be the fact that most people don't have the patience to handle hundreds of seemingly useless questions...
