gswilder
I have built a new WinXP PC a couple of months ago. At times, I seem to be having some slow downs and hangup with certain programs, that seem to use the disk. For example, I use Veritas Backup Express. When it backs up a drive of mine to another drive on the PC, it hangs on the backup diaglog box when trying to finalize writing the set. This only happens for backup file sets of a certain size (4Gig). Another example : If I go into a drive or folder to set sharing for network access, it will say "setting up sharing permissions", and just clock and clock. If I cancel after a few seconds, it seems like it went ahead and did the sharing. It's just like it hangs at a certain point. Other programs that are heaving disk intensive seem to be slow in certain operations. I use Thumbs+ 4.5 and it is slower to startup on my XP machine than my previous WIn2K box. Below is my PC configuration. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks....
