How to stop Windows 10 from ....

Recommended Posts

After a couple of minutes of not touching the mouse/keyboard, W10 does unwanted things.

It throws up a background picture, then I have to click to get rid of that and a sign-in screen appears, and then I have to click that to get back to the desktop screen.

Very annoying.

I have messed with display, background, personalize settings.

Nothing helped.

I have Sleep and power shut-down settings off.

It was shutting down the computer when I was running say, a defrag program.

I stopped using a Sleep setting because of this.

I am not using a screen saver.

I do not want Windows 10 changing the screen or shutting down unless I set the PC to do so at certain times.

How can I get back control of Windows ?

Thanks.

Go to settings/penalization/themes and set a background you are using as the default theme. In that section you can set your screen saver and pointer settings. If you do not want the Defrag thing to run at will go to start/administrative tools/defrag and turn off the auto defrag. You can also turn off unwanted background programs from running by going to settings/privacy/background apps and turn off those you do not want to run all of the time.

Huh ?

I do not run a screen saver.

I do not use the W10 defrager.

I do not see anything that will stop those background pictures automatically downloading.

The screen changes seem to have stopped by itself.

The screen was changing while watching videos.

I am turning off a lot of the Privacy settings -- hopefully that will help.

I never entered a password when I Installed W10.

Under require a password, only Yes is listed.
