haha sure it is. but ona serious note go for the first one, seems good and a fair price, especially if you only need it to back up videos.

I'd say go with the samsung just for the Diamond Heads. ON a side note, get something good (like the samsung). I work in best buy and we've been notified that the VCR is being killed off soon.

Killed off ... thats why I want to backup all my Home videos to DVD ;)

Is there any sites with VCR player reviews ... un-likely but has anyone seen any. More of a comparason type thing.

Also are any of these features really important, eg which one is best?

Diamond Heads

750x Jet rewind & 35x Jet search

Video doctor - A self diagonsitic system which notifys user of any errors via vcr display

Diamonds head are going to be the best kind of head you can get on a VCR.The heads are coated with Diamond Like Carbon. This helps preserve the heads and keep the machine up and running at a good quality longer than a standard VCR. The Jet Rewind stuff is useless if you are mainly going to use this to copy over to DVD.

VCR will still be around for atleast 15-20 years atleast. Last year was the last year they made beta machines and supposidly died many many years ago. Also the VCR is like the floppy drive, it just wont go away for awhile.

Until a VERY simple method comes out to convert VHS -> DVD, the VCR will be part of the entertainment system.

I got a VCR and DVD player (my PS2, I did have a DVD player but sold it). In my opinion, VCR's will remain for quite a bit until recording on DVD is cheaper, as well as recording home movies with some kind of portable DVD video camera.
