Banzai
I got Vice City the other day for my laptop. Now you might turn round and tell me I cant fix this and just to put up with it but its worth a try. When im playing vice city i have to run the lowest res on 16 bit because otherwise the game is slow and now and agen freezes for a secound or two. And also when in the game i get to area's in the game where things havent loaded right so like buildings wont be in deatal and then i wate for a bit and then it displays it all. Im not sure what graphics card ive got but i think its got about 64mb of mem and i tryed that script going around that shutsdown some of windows task and that dont really seem to work, am i stuffed? MxxCon
yup you are stuffed. unless it was laptop's selling point, they usually have really crappy video cards good enough only for office work. add to that the fact that a laptop can't run at it's maximum potential becuase of heat issues and the result is what you have above. Banzai
if i keep running it will it mess up my laptop or not?
Neo003
I have 9700pro and I still get the graphic in 1 or 2 secound late and mine has 128MB (with full detail 4x,8x).
MxxCon
if i keep running it will it mess up my laptop or not? it can but it shouldn't.. newer cpus will automaticly slow down if they heat up too much and hsf can't dissipate heat fast enough
conan_2000
I also get this problem, I run at 1280x1,024 and the buildings just show up fuzzy, they will load up in detail after a couple of seconds though. It can be particularly annoying because sometimes I crash into things that haven't drawn on the screen before I hit them. This problem only happened once I upgraded to a Sapphire 9700Pro 128MB, from a GeForce3 Ti200 64MB. Performs much better, but this problem drove me mad when playing through the game. The rest of my machine is fairly high spec also, and the system fairly intensively tweaked for performance. Perhaps it's an issue with ATI cards? But saying all this I've not played the game in a while, and maybe the updated Catalysts have sorted this out, and I also never patched Vice City, so either of these issues may have helped.
