Signum
I am Running Win2k Pro and have noticed that all my icons have gone into a Really bad looking (16 Colour). Tried messing with them in Display Propities > Effects and "use all possible colours for icons" but no joy. Anyone know why and if so how to fix this. (Think i read somewhere about a fix/Patch for this)
Jack Frost
To fix this open regedit and goto HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelDesktopWindowMetrics and locate the entry named Shell Icon BPP change the value of that to reflect what you want for your icon color depth ie- 16 for 16bit, 24 for 24bit, 32 for 32bit You can also do the same at HKEY_USERS.DefaultControl PanelDesktopWindowMetrics which that is used for when booting the machine before you logon and also as a skeleton for creating a new user Oh and also a reminder which is basically always said when involving the registry is always make a backup before changing settings incase something goes wrong you can do a rollback
