Hurmoth
From what I've read, the next wave of updates for the PowerBook should be coming around Feb. or March. What I haven't read though is what some of those updates would be, what do you'll think?
Chad
Not sure when they'll be updated, but it probably won't be much more than a processor bump. And no, it there won't be any G5s in a laptop this year.
Hurmoth
...and no, it there won't be any G5s in a laptop this year. Yeah I figured that there wouldn't be a G5 notebook yet, at least not in the first half of the year. But with the way Jobs was talking during his keynote about the G5's, it sounds like something big is coming out this year ... if they are able to bring out a server with G5's, I'm sure it won't be long until a notebook comes out, they'll have one probably the end of this year or the beginning of next year ... imo
mart3ll
Better not have a major update soon... I'm heading down to get my 15" PB on Monday. Mmmm... Powerbook.
Hurmoth
Yeah, I just got my 17" PowerBook, but if there's a major enough update I'll pay the money ... Apple's worth it!
isus
i like your powerbook. would you mind sending it to me free of charge when you upgrade? *cough*
frod
And no, it there won't be any G5s in a laptop this year. you speak as if these things are fact. anyways, this should be a huge year for the g5s. they have projected the g5 to hit 3ghz by this summer, i would be very surprised if they didn't find a way to get the g5s in powerbooks by at least december, and they should settle all disputes about which company has the fastest desktop processor since amd/intel doesn't seem to have any 64bit processing slated for anywhere near 3ghz this summer. so yeah, i would imagine the next pbook update will just be a speed bump, but i wouldn't be surprised if the one after that happened to debut the g5s. of course no one knows anything for sure. Chad
you speak as if these things are fact. The info on the 970 alone tells us it's not probable. Based on that, I think I can safely say no G5s in powerbooks this year.

Hurmoth
I know why I do ... because when I've got grandchildren, I can pull it out and say, "look at this big ole bulky thing we called computers!" While we're at home up in the sky like the Jetsons haha
Hurmoth
I think it would be cool to bring out the G5s Jan 24... https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=131208
lexor
how about replacing the black old school keyboard on 15" pbook, with the new colour matched (to case) back light one? /edit: oh yeah, and AirPort + BlueTooth standard/non-removable on ALL models if you please... (so I don't chicken out) :shifty:

Check Apple store mate :p only the SuperDrive has back lit keyboard with matched colour, not the ComboDrive one. I said nothing about case material needing an update, everyone know that got updated during last overhaul. Keep up mate

You don't need a superdrive. Also, the backlit keyboards and non are both the same aluminum color. Frod was right. Everything you said you wished was in a powerbook is already there.
