Amazon Echo and Google - Home is MS missing or too late for another trend yet again?

So both Google and Amazon presented their "talk with your home"-devices. While Google is way too creepy to be consindered having it in my living room, the echo seems kinda neat. Is it worth waiting for Microsoft to join the party with Cortana (do they even plan something similar?)  or are they missing another trend, and wont be able to catch up?

How is Google's offering any more or less creepy than Amazon's?

I would make the assumption that whilst all of these companies are tracking you to some degree, Google is normally considered one of the worst for tracking your personal details.

Other than home automation, the echo is worthless. It doesn't know the answers to well over 90% I ask it. Google Home will be so much more useful out of the gate.
