Kompressor
hey all! I just bought a new sony flat screen hdtv...and I want to wallmount the thing, however; I have an xbox, dvd player, vhs, and cablebox and I have no idea what to do with them (ie where to put them) cuz the tv is on the wall...so there is no where to place all the boxes other than on the floor which does not look good at all. can anyone (who has a wall mounted flat screen tv) give me some tips as to how they solved this problem? greatly appreciated
Redestium
Cool man, but watch out for burn in, especially with games you play.
mzkhadir
try painting the cables white or just get a switch box that uses one cable to the tv and then paint it the color of the wall to hide it.
Joel
You can buy a plasma set, but you can't figure out where to put your consoles? The only wire going to your TV should be the S-video (and Component wires maybe). Everything else should be routed through a receiver or other switching unit.
Kompressor
Do plasma tvs have the same problem with console games ? - All I've heard was that on a projection tv..the image can sometimes remain on the screen and scres it up...is it the same with plasma tvs??  :(
Hardice
Yep because if it says on there long enough the picture will be burned into the screen
dougkinzinger
Cut a hole in the wall below the TV and one behind it. Run your AV cables in the drywall (that is, if your on drywall as opposed to brick, etc.). A friend of mine did that, it looks great.
glazzz
some places that carry tv stands and such carry component stands that aren't built to hold a tv on top of them, they're just made to hold reciever, dvd player, cd player, yadda yadda...you could try getting one of those, or like doug said, cut into your wall and maybe put in shelves. I know most people THINK svideo is better but giving each color it;s own separate channel is just a much better way to get closer to the fill spectrum of colors. Component cables only make sense if you're talking progressive scan, otherwise it's a waste of money.

Malechai Veteran Posted January 12, 2004 Veteran Share Posted January 12, 2004 Component cables only make sense if you're talking progressive scan, otherwise it's a waste of money. i'm not sure if thats true or not, but speaking from my personal experience, I noticed a visual difference on my non-progressive scan tube tv when moving from svideo to component cables. dvd's have sharper and richer colours than they did before. graeme_7799
plasma tv's are a waste of money (excellent resolution tho) because they only have a lifespan of 5 years. please note this to all users. its a proven fact :(
Erich
Definately put everything inside the wall. Cut out some dry wall (if you can that is) and build a rack into the wall, then you can run the mess of cables around there... this also looks very sweet for speakers. rpm
Got a source graeme? We're getting a 42" Plasma for our boat because our boat across from us (rich mother****ers) have a Phillips 60" that you can see clearly from the bow of our boat.. they've had it for over 3 years. I'm glad you got your money's worth, then. I hooked up my DVD player using component to test it and it looked worse than the S-video cable. I have also read that others have noticed the same thing. IMO, not worth the $80+ if I don't have progressive scan. edit: also make sure that your video setting are identical, otherwise you're seeing the "placebo" effect. Boffa Jones Veteran Posted January 13, 2004 Veteran Share Posted January 13, 2004 I use componant cables as well and am pleased with the results. Soooo sexy. I would love a plasma tv, but they are deftinetly not worth the thousands of dollars required to buy it.
