what do you think apple will do on january 24 2004

Yeah, what an exciting thing that would be...

Watching an ad that you've seen before...

That would sure make up for their being no 20th Anniversary machine...

Yeah, but we don't know that there isn't going to be a 20th An. Machine!

Who said there would be?

So, you'd settle for watching a 20 year old ad during the SuperBowl instead of a new machine?

Never! I was just saying that who know's what Apple has up there sleeve. They may not release it on the 24th, but that doesn't mean they won't announce a 20th An. Machine!

This is totally off the wall, but maybe they'll announce that they'll move to China to reise their revenue by cutting costs and keeping the prices the same?

what's so good? well they'll have more money for R&D for instance...

Hey, what a great idea! They could move all support operations to India so that you couldn't get support due to the thick accents and scripted responses, while at the same time making all products in China where they could use cheaper, more brittle plastic and fake metal compounds like every other Chinese made product. Then you'll have a disposable, fragile product that you can't get help with because you can't understand what they're saying. And since the products would be made in China, you could be sure that each piece would be double-wrapped in plastic with about 20 twist-ties per wrapper, taped around the edges, packed in crumbling styrofoam and finally placed in a cheap 'paper-back' cardboard container with six meters of packaging tape. Oh yeah, and 10 bags of Silica Gel "Do Not Eat", to keep it dry.

A lot of Apple products are made in Taiwan. My iBook is one, for instance.

  • 2 weeks later...

Are you guys sure that they will even do anything around the 24th? After all, they have announced the iPod mini, iLife 04 and a few other bits and pieces.

Well, maybe i've been under a rock, but if they do upgrade some of the stuff, I want them to give the eMac's 1.33Ghz!

There haven't been many rumors other than processor speed increases from what I've seen. I wonder if they will release something.

Hehe, right after the announcement of the iPod mini? That'll be bad marketing. Very bad.

actually...it would kind of make sense because now that the mini Ipod could more easily function as a normal mass market digital audio player because of its size and price, the larger harddrived, heftier iPod is due for an update...especially since microsoft will soon release its Windows Media Center Portable devices software...for portable harddrives to store movies, photos and music and TV. Also, Apple and AOL have a history together and now AOL just made the move to sell downloadable movies online.... kinda like that rumor of an iTunes for movies...just a thought...nothing will probably happen.

i really hope for g5 imacs, though i really really doubt it... apple needs to come up with a new revolutionary consumer product thats affordable and cool looking... that way they will get more users... most consumers won't care about a g5, they just do word processing and surf the net.... the imac flat panel was head turning but the price was head turning too...

its the 24th here down under, but still 23rd in cupertino... still hoping and waiting

A dual display iMac that has two independent floating arms that can fold together to save space when not in use, also a redesign of the case to match Apple's love of all things metal. :p
