what do you think apple will do on january 24 2004

Yeah nothing announced so far..:/

Something would've been announced by 10AM Cali time. You never know...maybe they're just waiting for Monday to come around since most companies don't do press releases on the weekened.

on january 24th, the macintosh will have its 20th anniversary. do you think Apple Computer will do anything to commemorate "20 Years of Macintosh"? What do you think they will do for this event? Hopefully they'll speedbump the G5's or introduce some new "Gee Whiz" product or G5's in machines besides the PowerMac :woot: Or do you think they will do nothing at all?

perhaps they'll announce early retirement from the industry..

;)

Guys, wait til monday. ;)

Exactly. Companies don't release new products over the weekend. Now if Monday went by and Apple did nothing....well that's actually something. But to expect Apple to release a product on Saturday, just because it's the 20th anniversary is rediculous. It's not a religious holiday....at least not to the normal people out there.

right now, i doubt apple will do much at this time... most companies don't make products to "celebrate" their anniversaries...but then again... apple is different

Correct. Microsoft is in a monopoly. They have too much money to spend promoting the product that it is now market leader. Apple build professional PC's for professionals. Microsoft create easy software for standard end-users that want to use Word or just browse the internet.

My view.

And apple having ABSOLUTE UNRELENTING control over the mac os, going so far as to sue out of existance any company that tried to make an apple compatible computer isnt a monopoly in the mac-centric world? Pot.Kettle.Black

Yes but if you go to PC World and say "I want a computer", they won't say, "Oh heres a brand new Mac with Panther", they will say "Here we have Windows XP Home"...

Well, it works doesn't it :D

yeah and thats why its a monopoly. They control every aspect of it. From hardware to the os.

think about it why is the PC sometimes so buggy? is it maybe because the every peace of the hardware is made elsewhere? yust think about it... ;)

Apple makes all the hardware by itself... thats why it is so good, dont you think?

Apple only makes the MB and CPU, everything else is made by other company's if I'm correct, in the PC world you can choose any company you want depending on your tastes/wants

Kinda like if I want a pair of Infiniti Kappa speakers - I can't buy them from sony, or if I want Armani jeans I can't go to the Gap to get the, or like that time I wanted a cup of starbucks coffee but I couldn't get it at 7/11 because they're not allowed to sell it. Apple selling apple computers is just terrible: I mean that's as bad as Ford not being allowed to produce Accords to sell to me.

I would really like to know how you can live in a capitalist society and not know that ALL COMPANIES HAVE A MONOPOLY OF THEIR OWN PRODUCTS. That's a fundamental part of the system, and it's not ever gong to change.

Furthermore, being a monopoly is not illegal: abusing the special powers that being a monopoly grants you is. Microsoft broke those rules, had their day in court and then were found guilty - That's why people rag on Microsoft being a monopoly: they don't play fair. Apple has been to court a few times and lost once or twice but it never had anything to do with being an illegal monopoly (ie: the Apple records saga).
