tryfe
Damned MSN Explorer; damned it to hades! In my attempt at making my girlfriend's PC trouble-free, I ran into a problem that I didn't even contemplate. I had just finished reinstalling Windows 98SE for her OS was screwed; I didn't want to format cause she'd lose everything. Soon as she comes over, she fires up MSN Explorer and it crashes on startup EVERYTIME! I uninstalled it and reinstalled it then downloaded it and redownloaded it and yadda yadda; it didn't fix it. I erased the references in the registry and still the same thing. I then called up Microsoft for Tech Support to ask, "Why does MSN Explorer crash on startup? This PC is used by novice computer users and they use it to connect to MSN and check their emails." The first guy told me to do everything I ALREADY did and hung up on me. The second time I called I got a woman that answered my question roughly as follows, "You should just uninstall it and not use it. I mean, you can still connect to MSN thru the Dial-Up Networking Folder in your Start Menu...just create a connection and..." That doesn't even come close to a helping answer. My reply, again roughly was, "I F@$%ING KNOW I CAN DO THAT BUT HOW DO I GET MSN TO F@$%ING START WITHOUT CRASHING!?" Big help they are.....I ended up saving her files onto another computer and formatted that *******....a few wasted hours later (ON A FRIDAY NIGHT!@!!) I had the computer running just fine with no problems and dare I say, I installed MSN Explorer and it worked...riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight :right:
