TranceSphere
Who ever said that the US invented computers is wrong and we produced the first computer to crack the egnigma (sp?) code during ww2 (which we won ). Wrong :) The computer that cracked the enigma(sp?) was not the first computer :) The Analytical Engine was the very first mechanical digital computer (powered by steam!), it was never completed tho. Invented in 1815 by Charles Babbage in the UK :D :D :D :D Edited January 13, 2004 by TranceSphere

LoneSniper
I can walk down the street in the UK and not trip over homeless people, syringes and garbage. I also don't need to worry about being randomly shot. If that is your memory of the UK then don't come back cause it will be SHATTERED!!! This place has turned in to the armpit of Europe. leedogg
lol, so truewhy the hell do they need to wear all that protection, cant they just take pain like a man Our athletes are bigger and stronger than yours and likely to cause fatal damage to each other without such padding. :ninja: Besides, contrary to your typical stereotype of us, we're not stupid :p
Borbus
UK music is much better Obviously the King came out of US but we have had loads more awesome bands like the Beatles, Queen and Clapton (Who is God according to some) We set our Windows language to English UK not English US. In the US I guess they just leave it as the default English UK. Our keyboards have the @ and " symbols swapped. English have the @ above the ' and in US they have @ above 2. We call Soccer football and don't like Ice Hockey much. I don't even know or care what the Superbowl is. We use Pounds We have Royalty A Prime Minister Region 2 DVDs Films released a couple of weeks after US We have a stiff upper lip We don't like the French Just a few things I can think of There are loads of differences between us Our athletes are bigger and stronger than yours and likely to cause fatal damage to each other without such padding. Besides, contrary to your typical stereotype of us, we're not stupid No they're not bigger or stronger In Rugby there are different sized men for different jobs A little man does not want to mess with a big man in Rugby And our Rugby players don't wear padding because Rugby is about more than just barging other players out of the way I learnt that during the Rugby world cup which we happened to win :p

LowcountryRev
The Beatles and Floyd may be British (and I love the Beatles... the greatest band ever) but both owe their musical stylings to Southern US blues and rock and roll (Chuck Berry, Elvis, Carl Perkins, the Everly Brothers, Fats Domino, etc). As far as other music goes, jazz is "American classical music" and is our great cultural contribution to the world.

threetonesun
,Jan 13 2004, 02:37] the two most influential bands in rock ever, maybe you can add another name to the list but you cant deny their influenceas for writers: Elvis? lol ... I think he's bigger than the Beatles. And all the original rock guys came form the US. Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, etc. As for writers, yes, I could make a nice long list as well. but most on my list would have died in the last 50 years or still be alive. Also, I'll add McDonalds and Mickey Mouse to our fine list of contributions. And! In England fries are called chips and chips fries.
forster
... UK and USA, have you ever watched AFL? (Australian Rules Football). Now those are athletes! Before the blood rule was started a few years ago, you'd occasionaly have players running around the field dripping blood and STILL pouncing on each other. Nilcho protection.
