Steven
Training ffs, training. Special ops training ! E & E was the first attempt at real AI in the game. Don't blame it becuase its not absolutely perfect. It took me 4 hours to accomplish the mission and I tried really hard. So you can't say the AI is horrible. Astral
The DoD and DoA have stated many times that this game wasn't meant for recruiting purposes; no matter how good a geek can be in a game, would he really do well in the actual battlefield? My guess is a big fat no. So, ruling out that possible reason for the development of this game, my only guess is that the Army uses the results from certain games/missions for gathering intel on how participants react to certain situations. Seeing how some players, be it a geek or army personel with actual training, end up at the end of a round would provide a ton of stats that the Army could use in some way. Don't ask me how. My $0.02. Great game though; always tough at first (maybe tougher than others due to ROE and closer realism), but thats the way any game is at first. This is one of the few games where I can go and play and have a great day one day, and a horrible day the next; great replay value.
BroChaos Veteran Posted January 13, 2004 Veteran Share Posted January 13, 2004 i doubt it's used as a tool. i thought it was a marketing tool, to bring attention/possible recruits to the army. although, yeah, you could use the stats to learn about people. like, they say you can't really get better at golf by playing links or tiger woods, however, you can train yourself mentally, by making the right choices in the right situations. Marduk
that and because you cannot purchase something built by the government. It's against US Law. Funny you should mention that on my way to getting the patch I found this.
Steven
Funny you should mention that on my way to getting the patch I found this It's not funny at all. whats funny is that you're making something of nothing. What you're looking at is for the cd material. If you cannot download it yourself. the game is free. All your paying for is shipping and handling. You can go to your local best buy and pick the game and walk out with it. its Free. What patch are you looking for? the 2.0 --> 2.0a Patch? or the 1.9 --> 2.0a Patch? bangbang023 Veteran Posted January 14, 2004 Veteran Share Posted January 14, 2004 job? no when they'll pay me then it'll be a job. 'til then I want a marker on a minimap! stop crying and go find another game then. This game aims at realism. When you are out in the field in real life, you do not have a little flasher pointing out what your team mates mean when they say where they are. Bizkit
Haha. I like the game. I think that if they had bots in the same maps, it would help out the newer players who don't know the maps.

DrunkenMaster
I remember playing the 1.0 version on my system and couldn't make it through the training because my video card wasn't up to speed. I have a Radeon 9600 Pro and I'm wondering if the 2.0 verison is worth playing. The special ops sounds pretty cool. Are there a lot of SP missions? I'm all for MP but I tend to play SP a lot more. America's Army tries to teach teamwork. This game is a MP only. DrunkenMaster
I see, so are the training levels are basically there to teach you the rules and qualify you for higher ranks and to play MP?
