Waiter tipped $750 after a customer overheard his Christmas plans

It’s always nice to tip your server, but normally that tip amounts to between 10 and 20% of the bill.

 

So you can imagine how taken aback one waiter was when he saw he’d been tipped $750 (£600) on a bill that was just $122.

Ben, an Irish man living and working as a waiter in Texas, had been talking at work about his dream of taking his girlfriend Taryn, currently pregnant, back to his home to meet his family once their son was born.

A customer overheard Ben’s conversation and took it upon themselves to make sure they happen. Alongside the tip amount, they wrote: ‘Hopefully, this can get you back to Ireland for the holidays’.

Taryn shared a picture of the bill on Facebook, writing: ‘My boyfriend got this tip tonight at work…thought I would share it to show everyone that’s there is not only hate out there. Truly blessed.’

Her post has been liked 2.6k times, with many saying it had restored their faith in humanity.
