Smoke Odors

Recommended Posts

Grandparents are here while my parents are at the British Virgin Islands <-

Anyway they been smoking since they were 16 (honestly i am quite suprised they're alive without cancer)..

Well they brought their habit here.

Now I don't want to get lung cancer at any point in my life so I am looking for ways to get rid of it..

So far here is my plan,

The Oven Fan Is On

The Bathroom Fan (4x) Iss On

The Cieling Fan (3x) Is On (Lowest Speed (Clockwise))

The House Fan (1x) Is On

The House has been sprayed with lysol everywhere including air filters..

The House has been covered with yankee candles (ocean water, french vanillia, tulips, unknown) in various places.

So? What else can I do I am using Lysol because I ran out of Febreeze along time ago. :(

My grandmother used to smoke when I was a kid (she amazingly quit after 50 years). We ALWAYS kicked her outside to smoke. Even if it was the middle of winter. I suggest you do the same. Its not right to do that. You should say something, even if it is your family.

Then I suggest you go live in a bubble... plus you won't have to worry about truancy and horseplay issues.

tell them you don't want them smoking in the house because it's dangerous to your health and it's making you sick. you can go all militant and post anti-smoking stuff around the house - a few pix of icky smoky lungs might help as well. also...BE CAREFUL with the candles and aerosols or the whole place will go boom

they are truly dense if they haven't gotten the message by now

good luck (Y)

Ok, first off...are you trying to prevent yourself from getting cancer or do you just not like the smell?

Because lysol and candles don't make the smoke go away...you know that, right?

Couldn't you just ask politely if they'd contain their smoking in one room, like their bedroom or something? Then, when they leave, just Febreeze the hell out of that room.

If you don't have the cajones to ask a favor of your grandparents, then you're just gonna have to cope until they leave.

pull out a joint and smoke next to them saying they made you start... or make them feel bad for you...

honestly, i would kick them out if they didnt stop... but it's just me i guess

That is truly nasty that they would smoke in the house, knowing its a non-smoking home.

At least they should limit themselves to one room for it.

You could always call childrens services and report them for poisoning you

'course then you'd get "placed" somewhere till your parents returned :pinch:

I force people out onto the balcony to smoke, even when the wind chill off the ocean is below zero ?f

if they can't not smoke when they visit me, too bad.

Yes... But you have to understand it is really cold outside.

if my understanding of you using your oven as a source of heat is correct, this is the most comical thing i've seen on Neowin.

seriously, tell them to show some consideration and put their death-sticks out. explain to them what passive smoking is.

...or, you could do what that guy does on Police Acadamy - get out a crossbow and shoot their cigarettes

they arent going to stop if you ask them to take it outside... you may as well just deal... maybe leave as often as possible. youre not going to get cancer from the second hand smoke.
