Good morning, i bought the Mi Box for a friend this weekend. after installing Kodi via the google play store i wanted to restore from backup using adbLink. i put the box into developer mode and all that. but i couldn't get it to connect to the box. any ideas how to make this connect, i didn't have any issues using adbLink on any Firestick, FireTV or Nvidia Shield. i even tried hooking a usb from the Mi Box to my pc like you need to do for the Nvidia Shield but had no luck. please advise.

The thread is now quite older. But to help other people like you. I am going to answer this. Below i have found something that would help you do so.

 

How to connect adbLink to other Android TVs using a USB Cable?

 

The process is almost identical to the way how we did it wirelessly on Fire TV.

 

1. Open your Android TV settings, and select About, scroll down to Build, and tap on it seven times, and this will turn on the “Developer Options.”
2. Now in Setting go-to 'Preferences' section and Turn USB debugging On and also Network debugging (if available.)
3. Navigate back to Settings and click on Personal > Security and turn 'Unknown sources' On.
4. And also, note down your device IP address as well by heading over Settings > Device > Network.
5. Once you have made all the changes mentioned above, connect the TV to your PC using a USB cable, and a dialog box will prompt on the screen to validate the authorization for a valid connection.
6. Confirm it, and the program will authorize the USB connection by subsequently confirming the connection via IP address as well.
