deep1234
Hi guys. My personal choice for a Linux distribution is CentOS, as I may have some CentOS or Ubuntu devices on the same network. I want to make an update repository to save bandwidth. The question here, with a technology like docker is available for free. Can I make a image to be an update repository? An image for Ubuntu and CentOS on the host same machine? I have two 4TB drives connected as RAID 1. Can I share a link for these two to keep the downloaded files (I don't know much about docker on this part yet)? Thanks.
GrayW
Ignoring the Docker side at first. Unless I have completely misunderstood the question (which is very possible as I haven't been awake for long), what I think you're asking for is this: https://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/CreateLocalMirror - This is using CentOS 5.x but the theory is still sound. There is also another write up here using 7: https://deviantengineer.com/2016/03/repo-centos7/ - There is mention of it also being used for APT too. Unfortunately, my understanding of Docker is minimal as I'm still using full blown VM's for everything. I know there are official CentOS Docker images though, so maybe that route? Hopefully this points you in the right direction :).
